Apparently Iron Banner is back again today at 6pm?? The last one was only a couple of weeks back and wasn't there more of a gap between these events last time around, so I'm wondering why are they running it again so soon?
As an aside, is Iron Banner armour light level 42?
I might give it a shot this time around if only to be able to grab a couple of bits of etheric light, potentially.
Nope the armour is not light level 42 AFAIK.As an aside, is Iron Banner armour light level 42?

But as you say you can buy 1 etheric at rank 3 and 1 more at rank 5 per character.
I will be well up for lots of IB this week

R.I.P Nanny Sims, sad news. Are you running Crota just for the Necrochasm? It really is a hunk of junk.
Iron Banner gear wasn't 42 last time round, so I only got the cloak for cosmetic reasons. I'll be playing this one sporadically for fun as I need nothing from it.

Yes, just doing Crota for the Crux so I can get Nechro. It may be junk, but it's one of the only remaining exotics I don't have, so I want it for the collection if nothing else.
Not sure I'll be running IB this time around. It's fun but I don't think many of us need the armour any more, and while Jolders Hmmer is a fantastic HMG, I've got two perfect rolls from pre-HoW so don't need another, and the pulse rifle looks rather lacklustre. Basically, given that I only really want Etheric Light, I'd be better served doing PoE 34/35. Even Skolas wouldn't take as much time as Rank 5 in IB will require!
Finally got the Elder Cypher from Variks, took pretty much three days to the hour!
Also, this weeks Nightfall is an absolute doddle - Phogoth with Solar/Void Burns. Our quickest run was under eight minutes, and that was with only two Gjallarhorns. Didn't get much good this week, two legendary engrams and a Thunderlord (swiftly sharded) so nowhere near as good a haul as last week.

I'm working away again today but will be back about 10 pm and up for doing the 3 nightfalls then, if anyone else wants to team up.
I hope to be around a bit later (after 9) and still have two to run as there were very few people around earlierJumped into Crucible with my upgraded Red Death hoping for good things but I think the elite IB boys were on the other side brushing up on their skills pre-event as I got nowhere, not a single kill before I had to jump out early to take a call. The map makes a big difference though and this one was Burning Shrine with those revolving doors and things. Only been on it a couple of times and frankly I was "lost" most of the time
Despite having played the game since it was released, last night was the first time i've gone through the nightfall. We did three runs on the top level and 2 things took me by surprise. Firstly, how easy it was. I understand Phogoth is one of the easier runs, but even then to walk into the final room, kill the adds and then take down Phogoth in probably 30 seconds was much easier than i'd imagined. I ran the Phogoth bit of the Thorn bounty a couple of weeks ago and i was expecting it to be more like that. Secondly, this is what i dropped for my three runs:
Run 1) Purple engram that decrypted into a take it or leave it scout rifle called Hygiea Noblesse
Run 2) Nothing
Run 3) Nothing
One legendary engram seemed somewhat pathetic to me. Am i just being trolled by the RNG and those returns are normal enough, or is there something not quite right there? I ask partly because after those runs i played 3 games of IB. Across all players for the 3 games, so 18 drops, i saw 1 blue engram and that was it. Last time i played IB there were more weapon drops than you could deal with.
So all in all i'm not best impressed that 3 nightfalls and 3 IB matches led to 1 engram, but seriously those rewards seem so pathetic i wonder if there's either something not right or if i'm missing something? Otherwise i'll chalk it up to RNG trolling

Adding burns to any NF makes it "easier" since you are doing more damage if you have the right weapons. Phogoth isn't particularly hard though and if anyone in the fireteam is rocking a Gjallahorn then it becomes a cake walk with a solar burn NF. Maxed Ice Breaker was doing over 22,000 damage on a wizard critical hit mind you showing just how much a burn can add.
Three runs for me netted a Monte Carlo and nothing else of note. Saw a Gjally drop though (a first) although sadly not for either of the blokes who actually wanted it
Might have to level up my warlock a bit to make him a little more effective (currently 29) or might even go with the current trend and bin him off and build another titan. I need to review what armour I've got to see if I can get one to level 32 as soon as he hits level 20 if I were to go that route.

Does sound like you've run the NF with the same character three times. You always get something from a NF completion even if it is something crappy like strange coins or engrams. I don't think I've ever had a run where nothing at all has been given out.Run 1) Purple engram that decrypted into a take it or leave it scout rifle called Hygiea Noblesse

You're guaranteed a reward for the first nightfall completion with each character each week.
You get nothing as an end of game reward for the second onwards completion with each character.
Nightfalls used to be very difficult - at best you were the same level as the enemies (level 30), quite often people were one level lower than the enemy (level 29). Now most people are one or even two levels above the enemies, so they have both a weapon power and armour advantage.
Plus people tend to have the perfect weapons for any situation in the Nightfall now, back when the game first came out, you had to make do with whatever weapons you'd managed to unlock up to that point.

Ahhh yes, you're all quite right i used the same character for all 3 runs. What a noob
On the upside i feel less hard done by. I'm in the process of creating a second character atm, but Snubs Jnr is currently at far too low a level (around 12) for nightfall work.
Thanks for clarifying.

Thanks for the tip re muting squeakers, Youngsy, but you're only partially correct with regards to Nightfalls. Pre Dark Below they were level 28, so when you were at or near the Light level cap, the player has always had the potential of a level or two advantage. Of course, TDB hit, Nightfalls got bumped to 30 with the cap raising to 32, and the same happened with House of Wolves.Plus people tend to have the perfect weapons for any situation in the Nightfall now, back when the game first came out, you had to make do with whatever weapons you'd managed to unlock up to that point.
They were tougher at first simply because, as you correctly state, most players didn't have the optimal weaponry to take advantage of any burns. Apparently Xur sold nearly 1.2 million Ice Breakers when he offered it in January this year, and the number of us that don't have Gjallys/Fatebringers etc is dropping week by week simply by virtue of playing the game.
Another Crota takedown with no crux. Spent ages on LFG trying to find a group, but got bored and decided to help Zombie run a Nightfall, which rewarded him with... well, that's his place to tell you, not mine. Zombie, sorry I cut you off by leaving fireteam, I'm so used to being in party chat it took a second to realise that I'd left you hanging mid-sentence!

Suitably cryptic but we all know what that means, Zombie is now a member of the GHorn club! Congrats though <thumbs through notes> I reckon that leaves me and Penguin as the people who post on here regularly as ones without that elusive rocket launcher. I'll probably pick it up in early September as Bungie bin off all the good weapons for Taken King knowing my luck
No, sorry, I didn't mean it to come across that it was anything particularly special, and sadly, it wasn't Gjallarhorn. Heck, it wasn't even an exotic.
I was awarded another No Land Beyond from Deathsinger on a second HM Crota run, and got another Fang of Ir Yut. Now, I dismantled the first one I had as I couldn't see myself using it over Fatebringer, but I've been really enjoying Vision of Confluence the last couple of weeks and if Fang is anything like as good, it will make for a damn fine tool in its own right. Anyone else use Fang a lot, and what are its merits against Fatebringer and Vision?

No problem sir, took me a second as well! Was awarded a Pest Control Matrix autorifle. Would have been more annoyed but it was so quick to run through. In fact it's such an easy run I promptly soloed it with my warlock and got another legendary rocket launcher. Was a bit more humbug that time!
