GT5 Championship - Season 10 - return of the dice
Discussion
Yes but we've run the same basic championship for almost 3 years now. Half the field failed to show this championship and I predict the same will happen in the next.
We've exhausted every track and run most pp/bhp/hatch/coupe/sports/fwd/rwd/awd type of cars. People seem to be loosing interest and it needs a shake-up.
However, I think we need the different cars to run similar lap times. This can be altered via ballast, +/- pp or tyres. I'd still like it to be close but we need a change.
It's always been about the driver not the car and as ever we should ban individual set-up outside that announced buy the person picking.
I'm not saying my idea is the one we go with, happy to listen to other suggestions?

Ok had another thought.
For race to we have a group of say 5 cars. A having the potential for the best lap time B 2nd fastest, C 3rd etc etc
Based on race 1, 1st, 2nd could have car E, through to the last 2 having car A.
This would Balance the field plus give the diversity.
Whoever picks the track picks the pp and group of cars for this race.
Race 1 still one make

I can't really see how using different cars in the same race will make a difference to the amount of people racing, if anything people are going to lose interest quicker as the cars will be more spread out during each race than they are now. We've exhausted every track and run most pp/bhp/hatch/coupe/sports/fwd/rwd/awd type of cars. We've tried balancing cars before and it didn't really work.
I do think the problem is that we have simply done every track, car, tyre combo as you say.
Hmmm

Great racing last night!
Race 1 wasn't just about speed, but also strategy. Pitting even a lap late (dice...) proved to be crucial. I started with race hards on the front, sports softs on the rear. Unfortunately lag and a few mistakes meant I fell back to begin with, but the extra adjustability in the chassis on throttle and sharper turn-in meant I could maintain a stronger pace as the tyres wore down, so I caught back up to the pack. Then it was a case of picking the right moment to pit, Flip confirmed my suspicions of cross-over point, and we pitted line astern. Dice ran another lap, but that proved too much, and came out the pits behind us. I tried to gain on Flip but only closed the gap slightly. Everyone came home within 30 seconds of the leader - goodwood.
Race 2 - the first laps were interesting indeed! A bizarre lag-related pile-up at the end of lap 2 saw everyone in the pits for repairs, with a safety car allowing the intense racing to continue. Some gaps started to open up after 5 or so laps, but it was very closely run. I struggled to keep the lead, and slowly got nudged back to 3rd by goodwood then Norbs. I watched them fight for a while but started to slip away, then enjoyed many laps battling with Flip, swapping places repeatedly. Unfortunately this meant dice was able to catch us up, and entering the last lap, I was struggling to stay ahead. Exiting the last corner onto the home straight, I was blocking like mad as both Flip and dice closed in. We cross the finish line 3-wide - I genuinely had no idea if I was 3rd, 4th or 5th. By some miracle I kept 3rd, by mere thousands of a second. Brilliant fun to finish a 15 lap race so close together.

I've watched the replay and it was Goodwood who went mental in the second race.
Flip pulled a good move up the inside and its like Goodwood's PS3 couldn't cope with being overtaken so speared sideways into flip then accelerated backwards into dice and evo. Me and norbs rather pathetically crashed into the remains of the cars getting hugely disproportional damage in the process.

For the Spitfire, I reckon we go with full weight reduction, all power mods except turbo and then all drivetrain mods, 5 speed close ratio transmission, fixed sports suspension. The racing exhaust sounds very naughty.
