Just done the same race 3 times - open c class, mid Ohio - always crashing on the post upgrade ‘continue’ prompt. I’m giving up for a bit until these bugs are resolved.

Sometimes just not bothering upgrading and continuing through stops it from crashing.

Ok something that's annoyed me a bit, the random changes between PI restrictions within a builders cup series. This caught me out a few times when I started playing as I don't think they make it obvious enough on the pre launch screen. A few times I was wondering why I wasn't competitive and then noticed that this race the PI had jumped up to A class and I was still B class so off to mod the car we go and we're away. I just think there should be a prompt or something to say "Wow there, mod your car" etc.

Also, on that note for the last race in the modern sports car series it jumps up to S class, which was great I got to stick some decent tyres on my Z and up the power. When modding it I'd gone for power over handling as that worked well for me but I had found the rear would loose traction coming out of corners. Played with the tuning a bit and got it a bit better but still had to wait until straight to put the power down. Jumping to S Class made it even worse and I was struggling, then I remembered what someone posted on here about ballast.

Went back and added light ballast, then tweaked a few mods with the change in PI and wow, what a difference. So much more traction out of corners plus you could feel the car was no longer diving and surging under braking and acceleration. Took 1-2 seconds off the lap I was doing. Regardless of all it's other faults I do think the handling model is really excellent in this game. Just wish everything else would catch up.

I haven't used ballast yet but in Gran Truism 7, it was absolutely essential for MR cars.

Road Porsches were the worst for it, applying the brakes at anything other than completely straight would send the rear of the car sideways and into a tank slap. Tank slaps were also really hard to counter in GT7.

I had to add ballast to every Porsche, you can mount it at the front to improve the weight distribution. I also never improved the brakes!

Been mulling this one over for a while so I’ll put my 2 pence worth in, overall I am kind of enjoying the game, I think! There's a lot to like now that I’ve taken the time to dial in the steering wheel settings to my liking, the first few hours where very frustrating and the difference between wheel and controller is stark with the controller being a very pleasant experience out of the box.

I am finding that the game seems not quite finished, which is not very good considering its nearly 5 years in development, lots of things from previous forza titles missing, it seems to be a AAA game thing nowadays, hey we know you liked playing our games that way but that was wrong, now you will play the game the way we want you too! It’s bizarre.
So you’ve spent 4hours, level a car up to level 50 all the unlocks tuned to the max, lets go race, ok where? There isn’t a multiplayer lobby that will accommodate that car, ok so what lobby’s are available, oh I don’t have a car for that, ok another 4hours grind for a car you might not like to play in a lobby that might be gone by the time you’re ready, crazy!

For what its worth when you do find the car and lobby that’s right for you, its magic, very enjoyable, I also kind of like the practice, qualify format, it takes more time but I feel more invested in the race, I think that should be kept for the featured races but it should just revert back to old school forza for class lobbies, I think there is room for both.
I will say that the online lobbies do seem very sweaty, I can’t just turn up with standard tune car and compete, it needs to be tuned and tested which means many hours getting it right and if you pick the wrong car its very difficult, there does seem to be a couple of META cars at the moment and a lot of very fast drivers, also just a personable preference but I don’t like starting a flying lap, prefer to start in the pits and build up to the lap, just me!
Also the AI in the game is all over the place, its doesn’t matter what setting I have it on, by the time I’m through the first corner mayhem there is always 1 car 5 seconds up the road who seemly doesn’t need to pit or crash I practically bust the wheel to get close and then when I pass they fall back instantly and I’m on my own for the last lap of the race it certainly doesn’t feel organic it feels manipulated and there just isn’t enough to do in career mode.

This game needs time and lots of updates, I think the one thing that’s missing that’s always been there is multi player all classes lobby’s permanently being there, that’s the reason we spend hours tuning cars to take them into online to race them, I want to race the car I want not what the game tells me, time will tell but its 50/50 for me at the moment I’m enjoying it but not completely in love with it, yet.
Well-written, good to hear your thoughts knowing your opinion on previous versions. Not felt the need to 'take the plunge' on either a Series X or buying for the PC, will probably wait until March time - interested to try my Thrustmaster wheel on it see how the game feels vs a controller pad.

I'm not a gamer, so a wheel transforms the game for me. I means that I can drive in manual mode. That makes a MASSIVE difference. I can also steer the car with finesse, rather than zig-zagging all the time. Progressive throttling and braking using left-foot braking - a joy.

Fingers crossed that I've got the German series done and it stays done. I'd left the game alone for a bit and came back to it today, starting again with the German series (and driving the Mercedes instead of the Audi), and carrying on with the JDM series and LFA race. Hopefully now I can get on with the rest of the game hehe

I found to prevent the irritation with the game crashing (Xbox x) it was best to come out of the series and make performance upgrades from the main menu, then go back in. Bit of a faff but better than having to repeat a race.

I am not a big fan of them time locking some of the career events. However multiplayer is much stable and they seem to have fixed the loading screens where it was getting stuck. Still has some bugs in it such as if your in the pit lane just doing nothing deciding on setup for you car, either a car will drive into you or drop out from the sky from nowhere.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but just the set up of this for a game gives me the feeling they were initially going to make the model of it like Fortnite, but very early on decided it wouldn't be the best thing.... I dunno just the vibe I get for it and launching essentially a half assed game that was riddled with bug....

Wonder if they will make some of the tracks 'paying DLC'....?

We will see......

Lots of talk here about the online events.

Can it be played offline like most other Forzas?

I got myself a racing seat, wheel, pedals etc recently and want to give it a go.

Just wanting offline because my internet is slow. Nothing to do with me being a st driver. No sir biggrin

Yeah you can, there's a fair amount to get through with the builders cup which is the meat of the single player stuff. Then you get additional cups added a frequent intervals (again all offline racing).

Seems like a game that doesn’t know what it wants to be.

Focus on car building but hidden behind pointless levels.
Trying to be a sim, with tuning etc but then no qualifying.

I reckon there’s a good game underneath but has been taken in a confused direction.

quick question, does anyone use a keyboard to play the game??

I've been watching some YouTube vids (as you do) from Isuckatdriving and when you watch the throttle / brake inputs it seems to be full on or full off no modulation or feathering just 100% with no wheel spin or locking up on braking, i know ABS and TC is on but surely its not that good, he was racing that Ferrari F1 with no problems, what am i missing!

in a word - SKILL

No matter how good a driver you are in real life, these guys are off the charts on games.

Their manual dexterity is not normal. These guys and gals are super human at what they do.

I'd love to see a CT brain scan of a top gamer versus a Joe Average. I suspect that parts of their brains are much brighter than you or I.

Thank you, I am aware that I am no driving god! I am trying to understand the mechanics that allow a full throttle start with no wheelspin or 100% braking inputs with no lock ups, there must be a difference with using a keyboard and I was interested if anyone else used this method as a comparison and would share their experiences with a keyboard.

I'm doing this...

Learn a few tracks.
Learn the cars used on Multiplayer on those tracks.
Get on a track and try to follow someone.
Compare your times in practice and see how well you can qualify.
Some of the speeds are incredible. They must be in the 8's through Eau Rouge. I was just getting into the 10s before I watched how fast it could be done. I'm now in the low 9's.
I also think that I use at least one gear too low in lots of corners. This is also my real life experience from a track day. Dropping to 2, when 3 is low enough.

How is everyone finding this?

I’m hovering around 4800 skill points and in class S racing online. But finding so many bellends in the multiplayer lobbies. Punting you off mid race or leaning on you until you spin.

I wish they’d do the collision detection that they had in Forza 5 making the driving see through. Some people don’t even brake when approaching a bend. The time penalties just aren’t enough

Collision detection is absolutely fubar'd, the amount of times people have skidded of the track, come back on and T-boned me and it gives me the time penalty or comes up with a warning for 'avoidable contact' is unreal. Was up to 4800 myself now hovering around 4600 due to the cretins who are doing this along with ramming...

I haven't played it for weeks. I probably will get back to it, and some things might be fixed since last time, but I haven't got into it like I did with any previous FM or FH games.
