WTF?!

I'm struggling to break 1:50. Didn't want to muck about with car setup but I'm getting trounced. Hold my own in the Group 3 race, nowhere near the win in the group 4s.

Is anyone struggling with the third to last mission (15 minute race) on the triangular oval(!!) using Gr3 cars? I just can't do it and it is doing my melon in! I managed to lead the race with 35 seconds to go and car no: 2 decided to become a Mooseknuckle and smack me into the wall. Used a BMW M6 and a Aston Martin of some kind but cannot get first place.
It took me a few tries, too.

It's all about the slipstream.

The front three pull away pretty quickly. You need to work your way up to 4th by which point you'll be about 2 seconds behind the front three. Then you need to bang in a couple of really quick clean laps to get into the tow and use that to get up with them. Pit when they pit (you can fuel your car a little shorter and sneak a little bit of time that way). Second half of the race you can either sit with the three and make a late surge or cane it and break the tow. I did the latter and won by 3 seconds or so.

I've done a 1:50.05 in group 4 (BOP on + hard tyres), optimal said 1:49.3 I think it was. That car handles very well and has excellent traction, my group 4 is the TT and it just wheelspins out of corners. Not sure if the guy in that video has BOP on or not, but he's on hard tyres.

I've got the 458 and Jag F type group 4 cars, but they can't get close to the TT under BOP because they are about 200kg heavier. I've got a WRX too, which may be worth a go as its +14hp and +200kg, maybe the 4wd traction wil offset that though.

Weird thing is I was doing 1:50s in qualifying, when it came to the race I couldn't get anywhere close, I think my best was a 1:51.4, won it though!

I think some tweaking will have to be done to the TT if I climb the SR/DR ranks...
I've seen people win in the 1:48s with the 458 and Alfa but they seem to have them set up perfectly. I'm in the mid 1:50s with the 458 and, as you say, the TT just drives away from the 458.

Will try some others later.

Thanks for the info. I noticed that when using the slipstream behind some cars, I was getting nowhere and really struggled to get to 6th place during half way. Can I ask what car you used and which tyres you went for?
Yeah, because of the slipstreaming you won't just cruise through the field and you can get stuck out on your own between the two packs. You won't easily catch the front three just caning around on your own IMO.

I just used what I had for Gr.3 cars at that point. I think it was the Impreza but not 100% sure. Didn't change the tyres as far as I recall. Was looking at 120-ish at the apex of turn 1 and 155 or so at turn 3.

Bit concerned at the lack of older stuff. I hope they address that. Not much interest in the silly VGT cars. As I said, it's more like Wipeout.

Worried that they said there would be no 'standard' cars, not sure what benchmark they are using but sick to death already of all this Grp X stuff, never going to use it, for me its Grp 4 at a push, I want more lower classed cars, Caterhams, Evokes, Radicals and old classics (particularly rally), Lotus Cortina, original Mini, MkII Escort, Manta, Stratos, 037, RS200 etc and classic track cars RS500, M3, 635csi, XJS
No retro cars but they've got us racing diesel Mazda saloons around an "oval".......ffs!

Just had a really weird glitch where my car returned to default settings for the race following qualifying. Gear ratios and everything FUBAR. Car undriveable. Backed out the race and re-entered a different one to check the settings and my previous settings were back. Weird as fk.

Does it quite a bit for me on the 3 sport races.
Do you make changes during the warm-up period?

I keep getting caught up in other people's accidents where even taking to the grass to avoid them is penalised. Gone from S to B in four races. They need to look at the penalties again. They're brutal, which is good, but the decision making about them isn't right.

I think its maybe when I press the car settings button on the warm up which then puts me into the pits and doesn’t actually let me change the settings.
It's only happened to me, as far as I can tell, when I've made a setup change in the warm-up.

Great racing on there. I've been doing Kyoto today and it's got noticeably quicker over the last two days. People in the 1:41s now. Was 1;43 early on.

The game has a feel of Prologue to it. I get the impression they've created all the basic features for the launch date will pad it out in future. As long as we don't have to pay for the DLC that's OK.

I assume daily races will get updated more frequently once things are properly up and running.

Im already close to that stage, doesnt help that we dont seem to get full grids.

Also the BoP system doesnt seem to work properly either, the beetle is still the fastest gr3, the TT seems to be the quickest gr4 so you just a grid of identical cars
Every daily race I've entered has had a full grid. I've not done much in the user lobby as things tend to get a bit lairier in there.

I've seen a couple of Beetles in the Gr3 race, but not winning. And I've seen a couple of TTs in the Gr4 but again, they were nowhere near the front with GTRs and Sciroccos being the most popular winning cars.

Different cars seem suited to different tracks, which I think is how it should be, but there's not been any one which is unbeatable.

1:32.958

Pretty sure there's at least a 1:31 in there.

Today's dailies are tough.

One make for the N200, no tuning for the Gr.4 (which has screwed me!) and 8 laps of Suzuka for the Gr.3s.

I fear I won't be adding to my wins.

That's absolutely killed it for me. I was able to do some tweaks to make adaptations for the pad. Now I can't do that it feels like a huge advantage to have a wheel.

Don't understand the logic of this decision. Ok, fixed set ups if its a single model race = test of skill. Fixed set up on a class and one car is always faster on a circuit. Fix the BoP but let us change settings within that.
Quite.

I'm hoping it gets changed, or more races are added. It's turning the dailies into a one make race series.

My win ratio has dropped massively.
