Anyone else here doing the Freestone Rangers questline? Steam says only 13.9% of players have started it. You get a free really good ship when you complete it - https://www.rpgsite.net/feature/14746-starfield-un...

If you're planning to run any mods, then be aware that they're mostly limited to the Steam version at the moment as the Gamepass version on the PC is run from heavily access-controlled folders.
Also if you use Vortex it will add mods to the game folder Data folder (which is normal for all past Bethesda games), not the Documents/My Games/Starfield data folder which Starfield uses which is weird.

You need this mod - https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/1599 which disables the My games data side and transfers the game into reading the data folder in Starfield so you can install mods via Vortex. You need to install the mod, shut down Vortex then open again to see the popup telling you it's working. Needs Starfield Script Extender (SFSE) and of course run SFSE_loader.exe not starfield.exe as with all SE type modding.

I did. Don’t remember winning a ship however.
Maybe a decision you made wasn't quite the correct Dudley Do-right Ranger decision?

I got mine right at the end when I get the promotion.

You can give your companion one grenade and they never run out, but as per Fallout 4 they go absolutely mental with them, most of the time throwing them at any enemy, even the ones near you or deflecting them of walls/rocks towards you.

Speaking of the Red Mile - did anyone find it particularly challenging ? As a 'run' it seemed quite easy if you take a conflict avoidance approach.
Yes, it is easy to avoid conflict and go stealth. I was expecting it to be much more difficult.
I didn't know what to expect so went stealthy and slowly and tried to shoot my way through but died twice going out, but sprinted back quickly not shooting anything and finished easily. Aided by jumping onto high things to get my breath back. Also surprised my companion also went with me, so I let him be the fodder while I ran like a girl.

Browsing through the ships for sale at Akila City and a new one appeared (probably level/ability based) so I bought it, I wonder where it is?

Oh there it is.

Chunky boy.

I think I might use it as a ship design base with all those curved pieces, big reactor, engines and nice interior room options.

It's like a Stroud-Eklund Vanquisher ship only half the price but twice the thickness.

Ps. the thing with bigger ships, ok it's easy to get aboard straight to the bridge by pressing S but finding you way out again can be a pain. Keep that in mind if you build/modify your own, have the exit near the cockpit.

It's not a space sim like Star Citizen or Elite Dangerous. It's a Space based RPG.

Been doing other things so just started the UC quests. Still haven't bought a home or built a outpost.

Just one annoyance that I'm sure mods will fix, you can't rotate habs in the builder.
