Hopefully they'll finish the Eurofighter soon. F-4E would be good but I was disappointed that it seemed to bump development of the Euro. The Kola Peninsula map has been confirmed so that plus Eurofighter would be great for anyone wanting to relive memories of the old DiD sim EF2000.
Also, hurry up with the dynamic campaign and engine updates (multicore, Vulkan etc.)

I purchased the A10 on release but even after buying the Warthog HOTAS never really gelled with it I've been messing with it off and on since 2011 !
Anyway decided to have a proper go and suddenly its all starting to come together.
Always loved the A10 especially in the Lizard Green camo we often used to see them in pairs at treetop height in Lincolnshire when I was a kid.

In case you don't know there are Woodbridge liveries available here. The updated 'A-10C II' version with the JHMCS is well worth it too, makes finding targets and slaving the TGP so much easier when you can just look and designate.Anyway decided to have a proper go and suddenly its all starting to come together.

DCS have started their 15th anniversary sale today, lots of modules with 60% off. Pity I already own most of them

Same. That's when you need a second account for all the new 2-seat modules.https://forum.dcs.world/topic/330391-official-news...

Thanks for the heads up - I'm planning on trying out DCS soon. I've spent many years in MSFS/Prepar3d so have no issue paying for quality aircraft.https://forum.dcs.world/topic/330391-official-news...
From the discounted list of fixed-wing aircraft are you able to recommend 2 or 3 which are absolute bargains / must haves?

The Viper is in a good state right now, and is a true multi-role. The cockpit systems are more intuitive than some of the others, but the FBW system means you have to learn to 'think in Viper' to get the best from it.From the discounted list of fixed-wing aircraft are you able to recommend 2 or 3 which are absolute bargains / must haves?
The Hornet is also multi-role, but has the option of carrier ops, which is great fun. The systems are a bit more complex than the Viper though.
The A-10 is very much CAS-focussed, and the systems are on a par with the Hornet for complexity, but that gun, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt.
The new Strike Eagle is excellent, but still having some bugs worked out, and ideally you need a back seater. The Tomcat is also highly rated, because it is such an iconic classic, but I don't really get on with it and you really do need a back seater to get the best from it. The Viggen is a cold war steam-punk low level striker, the M-2000 a delta mostly A2A platform.
The new Mirage F-1 is also great, and a decent intro if you don't want to spend half the flight programming a computer. Similarly the F-5 (though the module is showing it's age somewhat). There are also the MiG-19 and MiG-21 if you are a complete masochist.
If you want helos, then the Apache and Hind are great, but again, 2-seaters. My personal favourite is the Gazelle, which has just had an update, and the Mi-8, which is a bit of a bus, but has some good low intensity campaigns.
Of the trainers, the MB-339 is very good, but too new to feature in the sale.
I don't really touch the WWII stuff, but the Mossie is beautifully done.
Incoming in the next 1-5 years are the F-4E, Eurofighter, Chinook, Tornado IDS, F-100, C-130, F-104, OA-58D, A-7E, and others I'm sure I've missed.
Personally, If I was limited to one fixed-wing, one helo and one map, I'd go Viper, Gazelle, and NTTR or Syria. (although I've been using the new Sinai map a lot lately)
The nice thing about DCS is the trial system, where you get to test out the modules for a short period before committing to buying.
Edit - Harrier! I forgot the Harrier. Another versatile multi-role and close-ish to the British GR versions. Plus APKWS (laser rockets)!

Have you tried the Huey? That’s good fun to fly. Very basic in its systems and you pretty much rely on the ai co pilot and gunners to do the shooting stuff (but you can do it yourself), having said that though I find it very entertaining to fly.
Have been rather taken by the Huey, the Paradise Lost campaign (Vietnam in all but name) is good. Got the opportunity to sit in a real UH1 cockpit recently and found it rather uncanny that it felt so familiar.Anybody recommend a mobo and CPU pair to use as the centrepiece of a DCS machine?
Building a new PC and it's largely for DCS but not sure what the sweet spot is.
I'm a traditional intel chap, but could be conviced to go AMD but it will take a fair bit to get me over my AMD K6 experience from back in the day.
Thanks in advance.

DCS is undergoing some big changes at the moment, with recent multi-threading version introduced, and the new 2.9 update. At the moment it is still only using two cores, but the plan is to utilise more when the necessary parts are re-written. General consensus is that six-cores will be the goal when they are done with the work, and the highest clock speed you can get goes without saying really. I've always been Intel too, and have no experience of AMD chipsets. I run an i9 11980HK and generally find myself CPU bound rather than GPU bound, so read into that what you will.Building a new PC and it's largely for DCS but not sure what the sweet spot is.

Best place to ask really though is on the ED Forums, though as with any 'What car?' thread on here, expect little consensus.
For those wanting to get help with the various aircraft available , I would recommend Chucks Guides. https://chucksguides.com/#dcs . Just to give you an idea of detail, the hornet guide is over 700 pages.
