Spent an hour chasing my old ghosts around the 'ring GP track. Can't get near.

I'm 1.7 seconds down; losing about 6/10ths in the final sector alone. Similar to Suzuka - I think I just need to grind it out.

I went back and did the Nurburg GP circuit experience, took over a second off on the first try, one good thing about the weeklies it helps with really getting to know the track!
What time difference do you get between the circuit experience and the online qualifying?

Any ideas for reducing braking distances? Brake balance hasn't made the difference. Looking at about 40m braking distance into the final chicane at the 'ring GP, for example.

Off the top of my head about 2 tenths slower on the circuit experience, as for braking distance I've no idea, it feels a bit inconsistent but that could just be me or my pedals, I do feel that Nurburg is one of those tracks where less is more and patience is rewarded.
I'm a second faster on the circuit experience - like for like in the AMG. Just feels like less grip everywhere.

If I do an absolutely perfect lap in the 911 (and I think I've done 500 miles on there now) I can see 1:56.9. I can't find the traction.

I ended up with the brake balance all the way to the front in the 911, I'll probably try another car tomorrow.
Kie25 does a good track guide, he pauses at the braking points, at normal speed it looks like he brakes quite late but when you see his inputs on the paused screen it's not that late, he definitely gets on the throttle hard and early though.
Normally when you do a load of laps and try different lines to optimise you'll find a chunk of time in a corner or sector. Not the case here. I'm now well into the territory of "over-driving" and pushing too much. Even been trying different controller configurations. banghead

There's definitely something about a set throttle position. I can't be consistent enough on the shoulder button to replicate it. I can see a 56.6 now but I've not strung it together.

I think the force feedback allows you to feel how much you're pushing the front. Then there seems to be a throttle position almost all the guys use which gives them the initial traction before they transition to full gas.

I found a tenth after 15 laps, switched to La Sarthe and found 2 secs there and stayed within track limits, there's obviously time to be had at Nurburg but god only knows where, watching aliens it's not like they do anything where I go, oh ok, that's where the time is, and yet they're 2 secs a lap faster than me
I'm the same, I watch a top 10 lap in the same car and yes they are later on the brakes and quicker on the throttle but 3 seconds at nurburgring! I'm on a low 58, probably got a mid 57 in me with another hour or two.

It was useful to watch at Le sarthe tho as that's basically a lesson in pushing track limits. Found 10 seconds there!
I've shared my 57.1. You can see obvious parts where I drop 0.1 here and there. There's over 0.2 in the last chicane.

I'm giving qualifying a miss this week...just going to do some races and try and recover some SR after my red C debacle in the group B FIA smile. Nice to see a good mix of cars in Race B, I'm going Aston as I'm using it in the Manufacturers.
Ouch! Tell us more.

I think I need to take part in the FIA races as watching the live streams and really enjoying them.

Managed to space my G29 pedals further apart so will see if there's much of a difference later on.
Don't fall in to the trap that the FIA races will be like the ones you watch! I've seen some of the worst behaviours in the FIA races. I guess because there's "more" at stake?

I think my worst has been SR S to SR A in a grid of DR A/S SR S. The only exception is ovals where bump drafting destroys your SR and there is always carnage, I've gone S to B with those more than once 40 odd SR point hit in one race. As we said before ovals need a different penalty system entirely.

Just as an aside, if you quit the game without going back to the main menu then you don't receive your daily mileage reward. That way you can carry one over to tomorrow so you have an extra chance on the wheel of fortune to get one of the new cars in the update.

How did everyone's FIA go? My Nations wasn't good, Started 17th finished 16th, crash and penalty didn't help! Manufacturers was a bit better, started 6th finished 5th, did a one stop and fuel saved which I think was the right strategy for the Aston.
Didn't have time to do it. Might look at the next ones but they've frozen the manufacturer choices and I'm stuck with Vipers.

There is generally a car in the midfield that has race winning pace and will work its way up through the field. I've seen it on everything from the Boxer series at Tsukuba to the Gr.2 at Fuji. The AI is not great at overaking and dealing with backmarkers (lapped traffic) so that's usually the best chance to pick it off. When I've done campaign with lower N values to try to maximise the credits I don't tend to get the fastest laps.

I hadn't tried the Gr.3 until this evening. I got down to 1:46 and was still 3 seconds off so I watched the replays. Then dawdled through that set of barriers on one lap and immediately found a second. With practice I'm sure I could whip through there quicker and get 1:44. I probably won't race on there so I won't bank that benefit in terms of a grid position but there's a major glitch there (again).

I'd expect to see new cars/tracks for the FIA event in Monaco.

I guess then imminent update is to sort the grid glitches (and maybe the final chicane at Catalunya).

I did my 26 miles in the 911 at Catalunya and got the same (cheat) lap time, give or take.
