I find CQ a bit annoying (I call it headless-chicken mode), the non-linear nature means you can either run back and forth between flags or camp by a flag. Bit rubbish. Bit COD.
Rush feels more realistic as you progress a long a linear route, 'pushing forward' with your squad...
Disagree- CQ gives you a choice of objectives - Attack a flag or defend a held flag. Attack a far flag ,flank and establish a new spawn point, or camp and spot in support. It's constant tactical decision making.Rush feels more realistic as you progress a long a linear route, 'pushing forward' with your squad...
It also gives you a constant choice of what exactly to do: Booby trap a flag, launch a vendetta on a particular enemy who's causing your team grief, whatever you please.
Rush is just a repeated kamikaze run into the flags ,and is IMO unfairly biased towards the attacking sides. Defending on rush is just a ball ache, as far as I'm concerned. Rush was far better and more balanced on BF:BC2. Far too many people snipe on Rush too, which is dull.

Not really too worried about admin, but would like to contribute to keep the server going. Sway are you setting up a paypal thing or the like???
May do next month, if the consensus is to keep it going. Happy for this month to be my treat.Think with all the work gone into this server its probably worth it rather than just taking it in turns to rent one.
That of course assumes one can renew a rental...
I'll post up closer to the time.
Can you take me off of the admin for the pistonheads server please as;
a. unfortunately i cant stand softcore
b. id end up banning half of the server
For example the prick in the tank, Seine Crossing CQ - there is no need to drive a tank right up to someones spawn area and just blast away. That sort of st really 'narks' me as it doesnt give the opposing team a chance to break out.

Can do if you want fella, though to be honest I'm quite happy with a mix of soft and hard(ooer missus!)a. unfortunately i cant stand softcore

Also, thats exactly the sort of thing that pisses me off, think first bit would be to swap his team, with a message sent. Similar carryon after that and its ban time...
I'm really not worried about people having high gameplay standards, thats why I set the server up.
Only thing I'd ask of admins is that they send a couple of word message to the kicked/banned.
The warnings are there on the welcome page after all....

The 'tactical choice' you refer to is just hectic indecision for the most part, run here, run there... oh I've got to run back again!, oh now over there..... v annoying! In Rush you can have a defensive line and an attacking line and some proper firefights which do require intelligent flanking manoeuvres. CQ was designed for heavy communication and co-ordination; i.e Squad A agree to take care of Flag A, Squad B take care of Flag B etc, etc But seeing as few people use headsets in just becomes a mass of headless chickens running between three points... nowt vaguely realistic about it which annoys. Especially when people take a flag and then simply abandon stations to go XP hunting.
To pick up on why you like CQ: why can you not booby trap an MCOM or launch a vendetta in Rush - same applies. But as it's linear everyone knows what they should be doing and when, as I said CQ is very much a COD style of gameplay and I loathe it.
I just tried the PH server for the first time and it was a total snipe and jet fest, disappointed.

if you're getting sniped at.. run in zig zags, and use cover, and take occasional pot shots at them to suppress them of you know where they're shooting from..as for jets.. they will tear you a new ahole if you let them.. so dont let them!!, chase em off with a AA lock tone and help the friendly jets that are alredy trying to kill him for you.
or dont just walk around in the open so they can pick you off so easily..
to be honest, as infantry.. the helis are far more intimidating!
Cheers, but I wasn't being dominated, it's just no one was actually going for the objectives. I spawned into a team of three snipers sitting around on top of a hill with a beacon. Almost plugged my mic in just to tell 'em to "GO FOR THE fkING OBJECTIVES!!".... but I couldn't be arsed.
There then followed a load of base raping by jets (destroying empty tanks etc) until the numbers petered out as people drifted away.... I'm sure it's not like that all the time but still pretty lame.

I was just on the ph server, yes there were a load of planes but what's wrong with that?
Didn't see many snipers either?
On PS3 with an open layout as per CQ 24 players is not a lot. Assume server isn't full; 20 players. Assume 6 players have gone sniper and are just sitting on the fking crane or hillside; 14 players. Assume 4-6 more are up in the sky..... doesn't leave much of a ground war does it?? especially when spread out over three objectives. Which is when I realise I'm just running from one flag to another putting them up and down and haven't killed/seen anyone for 10 minutes. Didn't see many snipers either?
