Tried out that War Thunder and found it a bit chaotic, am sure it would get better with more gameplay but I doubt I would spend so much time playing it.

Does Warthunder use RNG and MM? It's hard for me to envisage a vehicular combat game without it now.

And today, I hate WOT as much as ever, and yet I love it too. Five matches, absolutely crushing defeats in all of them, I think the best of the bunch saw my team take down 4 tanks, two of which were my kills. I will go back later tonight, for now my blood is boiling and I feel the anger and frustration. Getting 25,000xp on this Panzer IV can't come soon enough. Once they add the Maus line I'll only have one more fking medium to play through and I can be back in a heavy.

I was getting hammered by Russian Churchill IIIs today, they seem to be a pretty good Premium tank, I've heard they rake in silver.

Churchill IIIs are good crew trainers and money makers apparently. I have one on my US account.

Like any French tank, just shoot them in the turret if you come across them and you'll soon kill them.

I finally got a Mouse Trap medal for killing 10 Maus (Meeces, Mäuse?)

Managed to get 2 of them (who were in a platoon) in the same game with the tier 8 Waffle. Along with an M103 and T110E4 for a Halonen's Medal.

That's good work, the Maus is the one tank I'm really waiting on even if it's a dog.

Feeling bored of sticking pins in my scrotum, I have decided to look for other ways to give myself masochistic pleasure. The worst premium tank I've ever bought, the T14 or the American Maus as I call it, has rolled out of the garage after gathering dust for a while. I've invested about 1,000,000 in silver on equipment (vents, GLD, rammer), took it for a spin and on my first match out took a Mastery class 2. Can't be too upset with that. When it's top tier, it can bully quite well, even if the gun is a turd.

The Matilda BP takes it's place at the bottom of my premium garage list, I'm struggling to think of any redeeming features it has. It's up-gunning brings it to tier 5, but the gun is so inaccurate, even with a 100% crew, it can't take advantage of it's high ROF. It's also cripplingly slow, slower than a regular Matilda by some degree and that's not a fast tank to start with. I suppose it has good tracks which can absorb some damage, but it's just not really any good, at any distance. A bit of a shame really, it's a nice concept. I won't sell any of my premiums, even the ones I don't play often, but I can understand now why you see few MBPs on the battlefield - they're a hard tank to do well in as they just don't have any strengths to play to.

Just had a brilliant evening bstb and Asterix in a platoon

No wonder BS has a 58% win rate and a XVM rating of over 80% he is a minor deity amongst men in the virtual world.

The Gaul even offered himself up for virtual butt sex but bstb declined as any decent gent would do!

As an upshot i have to say that Teamspeak helps a lot in platoons (and in general) even if you can only listen to what is going on.

To the Gaul and BS thanks it was a blast!

Yep thanks Asterix and Tomash, was great fun tonight. Deffo teamspeak helps a lot in platoons, its always so much more fun when there are VBRJ watching each others backs beer

That 15-0 whitewash we pulled off in the tier 10 game will live long in the memory, especially with us in our tier 6 and 7 arties lol.

Cool. Did you get your headset back then, or buy a new one in the end?

Are you a unicum or super unicum, btsb?

I quite enjoy using the WOTXbox forums as there is a lot of good knowledge on there, but some of the unicum players are such a bunch of bell ends. There are some who are good, and want to share their knowledge and others who are like "Do not have 60% W/R, U r skreb fuk u n00b", which gets really tiresome. I'm a lowly 51% solo non-padder, not worthy of troubling the purples in their ivory tower.

Aquarius hippy

(Actually I'm around 57% win rate overall and 2200 WN8, which is neither I think, but its so variable on a day to day basis that it can be in Unicum / Super Unicum one day and scraping along the bottom the next. So much depends on the tanks I play and what mood i'm in, I learnt a long time ago that worrying about it / trying to control it was just a path to frustration)

I know what you mean though, the official PC WOT forums too are often just toxic blend of whiners, conspiracy theorists and 'you're not worthy' types. I suppose there are people who view video games as pretty much the be all and end all and as a result their success (or not) in them as being giving them some right to treat those not as successful very badly. They fail to take into account the myriad of other factors that affect things - lifestyle (wait you have to work, look after the kids?), internet connection, attitude (play for fun? wut?), sobriety... It just a measure of their inexperience in life I think, so I tend just not to bother with them. That's why its so nice to be able to discuss tanks here, there is none of that - just people enjoying / hating the game.

Just play the game, have fun with people you play with. Pretty sure thats what it's all about - it is for me anyhoo. Winning helps, of course, but its incidental really. In a way the XVM mod makes it worse - you will get people in games moaning at the start because win chance is low, or they have someone in the team they feel they are better than, its kind of annoying- (Plus arty keeps targetting me, bastids curse). I do wonder sometimes if the PC game would be better without it (at least the stats display bit).

My biggest problem is that WoT is often the game I have a bash at towards the end of the evening when I've often had a few bevs. Not exactly conducive to good decision making.

Anyway - really enjoyed last night. Quite a few times where the platoon and being on comms made a real difference.
That 15-0 game was unreal!

Think booze and WOT do not mix well together, for me at least as can only lead to one thing Kamikaze.

I actually got my first Kamikaze medal last night (and the associated Xbox achievement) when a VK36.01 rammed me in my Panzer IV, killing us both, but I got the award anyway.

Also, I have played WOT when on the drink and I'm st at it!

I had a decent Centurion 7/1 game last night. Check it aaaaaht...biggrin

http://wotreplays.com/site/1232681#self

I've only had the main L7 gun on this a few days, so I'm still getting used to it. Hence a few experimental shots on a Tiger II. I didn't have the top engine and tracks in this game.

Since then, I've now got the top tracks, so I've fitted a vertical stabiliser which should improve the aim time somewhat.

The T34 on my team was bhing and moaning the whole game. Called me a coward, said I'd stayed on the hill too long and then PMed me afterwards to accuse me of just sniping.

I told him that I'd done what was necessary. If it wasn't for me and the Jadgtiger 88 who carried his sorry arse, we probably wouldn't have. As for his contribution to the team? Well he'd done only 356 damage and then died. rolleyes

Great game that was, did not take any damage till the end and you won it for the team.
Bloke was a proper arse and to get in touch after shows what a bad loser he is.

Excellent game that, Beati. Played it exactly right with the Cent 7/1 imo, abuse that awesome gun, depression and turret and it rocks. Really can't see what the T34 was complaining about, you won the game for him. Probably just salty he only managed 1 penetrating hit on the enemy, can only hope that was his double wink. Still you only out damaged him 14:1, perhaps that's good for him who knows.

Thanks. Yes, it's not a bad tank really, although I look forward to getting the top engine for the extra mobility.

The turret front and upper front plate are quite bouncy. I've got a Steel Wall in it already, which is not a medal I exactly try to seek out in any tank.

I've also just got the top 130mm gun on the Chinese tier 9 heavy, the WZ-111 1-4. Despite not having the top engine & tracks yet, it's still very mobile and bouncy from the front. It's like an IS-8 with armour. That 130mm gun hits like the IS-7 or E-75, but has a faster reload than the latter. When you smack someone with 490 average damage they're inclined to back off somewhat I find. If I only I could find a team who weren't retarded, perhaps it would be permitted to win sometimes as well.

I've just had a game in my Panzer S35 739f where I did more damage than the rest of my team combined, and took no damage myself, securing a win. What a tank, when it's top tier, this thing is like the Micro Maus with a better gun.

I've just taken a Mastery class 1 and a Sniper medal in my T14, maybe this thing isn't so st after all. It's quite funny being swarmed by DBWs firing madly, and not a single round penetrating, allowing them to be picked off one by one.

I bought and sold the T14 really quickly as I was only a new player and would fire blindly at tanks, weak spots what weak spots! Wish I hadn't now really I enjoy playing at tier 5 with my sherman
