I don't seem to get on well with the 1.6 rally engine, should be good based on the stats but it seems to have no top end, pretty good at low speeds but runs out of puff higher up especially with aero on. So I've not used it any of my tunes so far.
I don't think there is much more time to be had from my GTA, very close between that and Sp4ce's Elan. Maybe if I had a good long session to dial into it I could save some time, it's the last bit where I reckon I could find time but it's a very difficult section and you have to have a perfect run to get there.
I found the rally engine gutless aswell, they run into a brick wall at higher speeds. I'm also at the diminishing returns stage with the Elan.I don't think there is much more time to be had from my GTA, very close between that and Sp4ce's Elan. If i don't find the time for any more tuning session/laps i'm more than happy with what i've got out of it so far. It's been a good battle.

Likewise, not been on today, might try over the weekend but having tried a few more cars in not sure there is much more I can do. The fulvia has potential but the back end seems to be a bit slippy. The 270z should be good on stats but isn't in practice. Perhaps the mini might be an option?
I tried the Fiesta XR2 the other day and according to the power/weight stats it should wipe the floor with almost everything else. Even with the 2 litre engine it refuses to rev fast or high enough, disappointing.
The Fiat 500 is mega for handling and fast but quickly out of its depth on the bumps at speed. The only car i've rolled multiple times
Will check the Mini out at some point.
Edit: Nice mix of cars on the table now. Opening the choice up like this seems a good move compared to previous challenges.

Tried the GTA and managed to get myself a bit further up the board, just pipped @miniman1976 in his Fulvia. Enjoyed that, and learned a lot about tuning as well. I think the dog might have heard some new swear words in the process when I kept nudging a barrier in the middle of a good time...
Now officially the second quickest on automatic. Although there’s only three of us on the board...

Haven't you improved around 10 seconds from where you started? That is immense Now officially the second quickest on automatic. Although there’s only three of us on the board...

Thanks! Just bagged a 49 something, that’s about 14 seconds better than where I started. Course, it’s easier to make big improvements when you start so far behind! Turning TC fully off has made a big difference, car actually turns in now...
Fair play, when you have the chassis setup to your liking there's no need for it. Most of the fun for me is throwing scandi flicks or trying to rotate the car fast which i'm guessing the TC/Stability control would say no to.Shinysideup said:

It's like it's on a trampoline.
I've only had four runs with it so far but already found running the suspension high-ish and adding a fair bit of rebound damping helps it.The last section of jumps is a lottery though it seems.
I tried the mini traveller the other day as I assumed the longer wheel base would help but I just couldn't seem to get the back end to stay in on corners. The lotus Cortina was disappointing, I also looked at the sunbeam but I suspect it's too heavy to be much good, this track seems to really reward light weight and handling over power.
The Scirocco is really nice, but I couldn't quite keep up with my own ghost. Maybe with a different engine it would be a possibility.
I found a little more time in the GTA this morning by trying a different engine and sacrificing brakes and a little weight but for 40 bhp extra. There is still another half second in it the car in sure, but it's more hassle than it's worth now.

The last section is the hardest part in my opinion, can lose so much time, or just mess it up altogether.

It is a downer imo when such a big element of luck comes into it with a car like the Mini. You could land a clean run in a few goes or spend all day rolling and bouncing through walls by no real fault of your own.I tried the mini traveller the other day as I assumed the longer wheel base would help but I just couldn't seem to get the back end to stay in on corners. The elan was sheer joy to drive compared with it, especially through the flat out jumps.

Agreed, can only assume it's too do with the really short when base and the ultra lightweight. The Abarth 500 was pretty rubbish when I tried that even though on specs it should have been good. The elan was sheer joy to drive compared with it, especially through the flat out jumps.
For a laugh I tried the range rover but it just ploughed into barriers for fun.
I haven't tried the Elan, might do tomorrow if I'm on.
In my GTA I didn't bother with the rally suspension, I've gone with race and just softened it, kept the ride fairly low too, it pays dividends in the early section but perhaps i suffer on the jumps towards the end.
