Forza Horizon 5
Discussion
Anyone played any of the horizon anniversary stuff?
New horizon story and some cars to unlock. Also new midnight battles which is probably the best bit.
Must say I was a bit excited the first week when the loading screen was forza horizon 1, as that’s my favourite of all the games, but it’s been a bit lackluster.
Forza horizon 5 seems so dead compared to previous games, hardly anyone online. I know it’s been out a year but FH4 seemed much more alive this far into its life.

The map is vast, I find myself now just dipping in a couple of times a week simply to do the seasonal challenges and get the cars and points, it just all seems a bit 'samey' and stale. The anniversary content is okay, but it would have been cool to have a side game taking you back to the previous game's map for a few races.

I'm still playing through it doing the weekly stuff for the points. I've got all the auto show cars and 30 million credits, so if I haven't got a car set up for a certain race, it's not much hassle to build one. 4 was a more fun game though.
Same here, pretty much. It's still fun, but the "bubble" system for finding other players ruins the game. I miss being able to check the map and seeing loads of players dotted around doing their thing. FH5 feels like I'm exploring mars alone half of the time. It's a shame since graphically it's a huge increase over FH4, it's just really boring driving around on empty roads ad infinitum.

I'm afraid I can't be bothered...New horizon story and some cars to unlock. Also new midnight battles which is probably the best bit.

Just to drop in to get the weekly cars, especially the hard to get ones.
Then I realized it was the only reason I was still playing the game.
As others have stated, it just doesn't have the same 'attraction' FH4 had.
And as a result, I haven't played it in weeks - and probably won't for the time coming either.
Pity...
Also not enjoying FH5 very much. Think the map is too large, it's full of a lot of boring space, and doesn't really flow from one area to another.
FH4 map was fantastic - absolutely loved the coast road up to Edinburgh, and the motorway seemed to serve a purpose too, which it doesn't in 5.
5 also feels a lot more of a grind - wheel spins tend to give really low CR or clothing, hardly ever get a car. It's all just a bit pointless.

Totally agree with all your points, I adored the UK map by comparison Mexico does seem quite boring. FH4 map was fantastic - absolutely loved the coast road up to Edinburgh, and the motorway seemed to serve a purpose too, which it doesn't in 5.

Also the seasons don’t change things as much as they did in 4.
Honestly I kind of wish they’d get rid of the wheelspins, I never liked how much money you had or what cars was down to chance. Doesn’t feel like progression to me when it’s left up to luck.
Its interesting reading the replies how everyone seems to agree FH4 was the more fun game. I think there’s one more dlc still to come out so hopefully that’s good.
Agree with the last few posters. More isn't always better in my opinion. I like FH1 as I was able to learn the map, it had some good twisty sections and round town races, loved the road up the mountain. Even the biggest race was short enough you could learn it and have fun trying different cars on it, optimising your driving.
Found with the recent versions there is just too much for me to learn as a more casual player. I recognise certain spots but cant even navigate between them without the nav.
I hate trailblazer style events.
FH4 was good with the setting, though still a bit big and bland. Really peed me off because I got all excited seeing the map prior to release with Uffington White Horse on it. It is my local go to area for driving, the roads are fantastic and often used by PH and Top Gear for reviews. Was probably the biggest reason I bought the game. The Horse itself, whole landscape and the roads in the game couldnt be much further removed from reality if they were underwater. Which is a bit of a pisser when other places replicated in the game are done so well. I can pick out my mates old shop in Ambleside for instance, even the Mrs recognises it from visiting.
FH5 addressed a few of my issues, there are a lot more fun roads, tighter twistier rather than 200mph sweepers, but yes they are spread out a bit so faff getting between them or fast travel which isnt fun either. And there is just soo much to do that it all just feels like a grind compared to the first one. I think I gave up with 5 with the lowest % completion of all 5 titles, despite buying a Series X just for it.

Tonight I have mostly been getting the bonus boards done. I've got over 30 million credits but paying 1200 for fast travels was getting to me . I had about 5 still purple so I gave in and compared my map to a map of all the boards. There were 3 easy to get to ones that I just hadn't found on the map so I got those, leaving the last few boards on a couple of rooftops, under the bridge and on the pylon. I gave in again and watched a few YouTube videos on the best way to get them, and went for it. The pylon board was the worst, rewind came in very very handy. The mainland ones are all done now though, I'll probably try for the Hot Wheels boards next.
I for one am loving this game, I’ve always been a PlayStation man and bought the PS5 just for GT5 but was massively disappointed.
I sold my PS5 to CEX for the same money I paid for it (!!) and bought a series X for FH5 and it’s perfect for me, the graphics especially and car noises.
I am a bit bored with the story, it’s not so much the races, it’s more the cringe cut scenes that you can’t skip. I don’t get it, those scenes are cringe for any age, why do they force us to watch them?? Even if the younger generation loved it, they should still give the choice of skipping them.
Anyways I’ve got a like 20 million credits and would like to compare some cars laptimes/sprint times, for example a DBS Super leggera VS an 812 Superfast.
Ive been trying to create my own challenge cards using route’s I’ve picked and setting a time to compare however, the challenge card only lets you use the car you set the time in for the challenge and it doesn’t give the option. There’s so many functions in this game, maybe I’ve missed it, does anybody have any idea?
To be clear, id like to set a time in an Aston DBS and see if the Ferrari 812 can beat it
Thanks in advance

Is it possible to set a class, say A, and the car as anything goes.I sold my PS5 to CEX for the same money I paid for it (!!) and bought a series X for FH5 and it’s perfect for me, the graphics especially and car noises.

Best way I found is set the speech volume to zero, then you don't have to listen to people who sound like they're on speed going on about how amazing you are (whilst inserting random Spanish words, in a way that no one who speaks a different language actually does.)I am a bit bored with the story, it’s not so much the races, it’s more the cringe cut scenes that you can’t skip.
