Gran Turismo 7
Discussion
I’ve spent countless hours on liveries and creating SVG’s, the best advice is to just mess around with it and learn over time. Creating something basic is very easy, technical stuff can be tricky but you soon pick up the techniques and tricks needed. If you’re struggling with getting something to sit right try changing between align with camera setting, and if it’s causing problems on corners adjust the depth and limit. That can both help stop wrapping around, or extended the decal further. Whenever I apply a decal that is just a plain colour I automatically put the depth to max, this makes sure all the little bits get filled in, otherwise it sometimes leaves a tiny bit around a panel edge.
It’s basically trial and error as you learn.
I too wish you could group decals together, especially for bulk colour changes, and also wish there was an undo feature!
Now I’m slowly getting some cars I can finally start importing some of my liveries from Sport. Here’s the first few
The Supra is a crazy amount of decals, as the whole car is liquid gold, with masks around every Edge logo and the stripes to get it showing through

If you shared them on Sport before that transfer date they should become available on 7 when you own the same car.
Quality won’t be affected, that’s the beauty and purpose of vector graphics.
I’m not bothered about a potential future option to sell liveries, I make them for the enjoyment of it and more than happy to share them for everyone else. That said, I do have a few I keep exclusive, but mostly I customise the ones I share for my own version.
Personally I doubt they would ever do a system where you can sell them due to potential exploits

This livery talk has just reminded me that I needed to grab the Renault 5 Maxi from the 2nd hand dealer. I’ve just checked and it’s now gone! Been staring me in the face since the game released!
Oh well, it will have to wait until it appears again now.
In Sport I recreated this livery for Clio V6 and had to make pretty much every SVG for it. Now I can put it on the correct car, well once I’m able to buy it
It was one of my favourite ones to make, so I’ll look forward to that one.

This one took a while with me also, you wait until you get to the AMG at the ring.
I just need to do the rally one and then I’ll be on the AMG!Stuck until they fix the tyre bug though, so that’s on hold for now, but I don’t like the look of it, especially as I’m not a big fan of that track or car
To make your own you need an understanding of vector graphics, they are totally different to any type of image (gif, png, tiff, jpeg etc) in that they are not an actual image.
Consider that an image is exactly that, it is the actual picture.
A vector graphic is actually a set of instructions which describe how the image is drawn. Therefore, that is why you can scale a vector to any size without loss of quality, simply because you’re not stretching or shrinking an actual image, you’re just saying drawer it this big, with these instructions of how to.
Best thing is to check some tutorials on YouTube so you can understand the basics. Inkscape is a free and excellent vector editor, so grab that too.
Edit:
Work you way through this too:

I don’t think it’s been available yet, this thread is worth a follow, it is documenting the legendary car rotation

Found a paint job for my Porsche
I’ve just started a Rothmans 959 style one for that car, it’s a proper nightmare!I see someone else has done it, but mine will have a metallic gold stripe rather than just yellow.
With the amount of angles on the car it’s a joke, definitely not one for anyone just starting on the livery editor!
Just to get the blue end pieces on the wing and a nice smooth curve underneath and behind has taken 22 layers, normal it would be 2!
Already up to 12 just to get the blue on the bodywork too, think it’s going to be a labour of love, I’m enjoying the challenge though.
Regarding kusosprime, I saw a comment from someone involved with it on GT Planet, he was saying it’s not looking very hopeful that they can do a similar site, as all of the data is well locked down and not accessible in the same way Sport was.
As for liveries, this 911 GT1 is something else! I don’t think there’s a flat section on the whole thing, it’s easily the hardest livery I’ve made.
Nearly everything projects through to other surfaces, and reducing the depth stops it covering the panel you want to as well!
It’s a good challenge though,

It’s a good challenge though,
I made a personalised plate as an SVG for front and rear, it takes seconds to apply then. It’s got the correct font, colours and a border. Means all cars share the same plate but makes life easier. Or sometimes I’ll just download a random one someone else has made, like my Evo for example

All of the work I did yesterday on the GT1 Rothmans livery has disappeared!
When I choose to edit it, the thumbnail displays it correctly, but when loaded all of the decals have gone, and only the paint changes are showing.
I hope this is just a bug and it’s all still there, I don’t think I could start all over again!
Edit: panic over, this fixes it if anyone else has the same problem
Delete saved data before launching the game, that will fix it
(Settings/application saved data management/delete/gt7/select all)
