New PC racing sim - Assetto Corsa
Discussion
The Lotuses are actually my favourites :-) The Exige, 2-Eleven and Elise I've driven in real life and compared to their peers, so that's not too surprising. What's been the real surprise for me is that I always thought that given a lottery win budget, I'd prefer the 458, Pagani or Mclaren to Lotus' everyday sports/GT offering, the Evora. The Zonda is actually my dream car. That to me seemed obvious, but actually, in AC I prefer the Evora to any of those. That decision surprises me, because my very principles in life are to never have a bias - I try to treat everyone and everything equally, and with cars that means doing so regardless of badge. Genuinely though, those Lotuses are my favourite cars in each and every category.
My favourites on the sim are: Lotus 49, 2-Eleven, Exige and Evora. Lotus in each category! In real life this is compounded by the fact that Lotuses have natural feeling steering with feel (unlike most cars, they still use hydraulic PAS, and avoid it altogether on the others) and a non laggy throttle, which plagues most modern cars.

Purchased and had a go today, I'm liking it I'm enjoying just driving round the track in a Lotus at the moment getting the hang of it. I've never really played a "proper" driving sim on a PC before, truth be told I fell out with PC gaming yeats ago after getting thoroughly fed up with issues just getting games to run. Steam seems to have sorted that out though!
A time from today - 2:03.304 in a Lotus Exige Scura at Monza 1966. How far behind the curve am I? Go on - depress me!

Welcome back to PC gaming! AC is an utterly fantastic sim, so you've returned at a good time :-) I've tried most of the console offerings and they're just unrealistic games for kids, rather than sims, so it's well worth getting AC for the PC.A time from today - 2:03.304 in a Lotus Exige Scura at Monza 1966. I've no times for the Exige but in the 2-Eleven I'm in the 1m14s at Silverstone International and 1m48s at Valleluga. I'm used to sims and also race in real life, but only play perhaps 20 minutes every other day. If I played more I expect I could knock a second or perhaps two off those times, but it'll give you a ballpark to aim for

1:50 although I have clocked up 30 hours of track time in the game so have a little bit of a head start!Addicted to Imola with the Zonda R and Mclaren MP4-12C at the moment.
Good lord!! Miles off! It looks like I'll have to investigate setups I think. I spent a while getting the wheel set up (driving force gt) as it was 180 degrees lock to lock to begin with, which was awful. I haven't done any car tweaking. 12 seconds though! I'll have a crack at the other times to see if I'm as far behind on them as well :O

Just checking the scura is the black one with the supercharger whine isn't it? One reason my time might be quicker is my wheel has 900 degrees of rotation which makes it a hell of a lot easier to get it spot on on the high speed loose corners.

The wheel is 900 degrees now, which is much better. I had to download the Logitech software to set it up like that. I'm not sure re: the supercharger. I can say the car was NOT fast. It only hit about 115 MPH on the straights, which seemed slow to me. I recommend this website and their downloadable app for AC - http://www.radiators-champ.com/RSRLiveTiming/
Gives you a better idea of where you stand in terms of times.
Should we have a PH Car/Track hotlap challenge for a bit of fun? I'm not particularly fast btw but it might be fun.
Any preferences of the combo?

I like Imola with the Pagani or Mclaren but am happy doing anything else too.
Just installed this, great game! The physics seem very good, the weight transfer in particular feels very accurate through my G27. Looking very promising.
Can't quite get the graphics right yet, seem to have a lot of jaggies, but the frame rate is good on my rig (i3, GTX 460, 4GB RAM).
Into mid 2.30's with the Elise SC at Silverstone, still plenty of time to find I think. Anyone care to challenge me with their time?
I'll have a go at Monza later and see what times I get get compared to those mentioned in the posts above.

Slightly OT, but BMW really need to make road going version of this.A replacement for the old M Coupe, and with a V8 in it like the GT car.
Back on topic, have they indicated a potential release date for AC yet, or are they running a prolonged Beta access on it?
