Cyberpunk 2077 - NO SPOILERS!

When I watched the Netflix show "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" I had not played the game. Playing the game I loved the back-references to the show in the game. Now that I've played (a lot of) the game, I am watching the show a 2nd time and am finding all sorts of stuff I did not see before. Like the glitch animation is the same as in the game, and David's apartment is the same as V's (which is hardly surprising as I bet the Megabuilding apartments are all identical). I'm sure more stuff will come out as I continue to watch the show.
edit: Wow. I had forgotten how bleak and downbeat the first episode is.
edit2: One thing I do remember is how Lucy starts off as a strong independent woman totally in control of her life, and then ends up as David's simp. I really hated that. And seeing her as that initial person in Ep2 really reminded me.

Edgerunners was a brilliant show, I still haven't finished it yet but when I started it I was playing the game at the some time and you're right, the links between the two are very good. Finally got it, and started it. Looks incredible. The first couple of quests seem to be fairly slow burning but I’m looking forward to getting a little more used to the controls and the getting stuck. Not much makes sense presently but I hope to have a really decent blast tomorrow evening when I have a free couple of hours.

Yeah the skill tree is much easier to navigate now compared to what it was at launch. If you've picked up the Dogtown expansion (well worth it), once you get to a certain point in the main story you'll be able to start that and then can dip in and out. It works really well alongside the main campaign as there's lot's of useful stuff to find in Dogtown.
Unlike a lot of similar games, there is no cost to re-spec so you don't have to worry too much about getting it wrong. Just refund the perks and then re-spend them, if you find your choices are not working the way you like to play.
I seem to have ended up as a full Netgunner (ie. a Netrunner who also shoots people).

That's the build I've ended up with also. Biggest adjust for me was coming from something like Deus Ex where augments/cyberware were actual tools and abilities you could activate when you want, whereas CP2077's is more of a buff system, although a few skills do give you permanent upgrades like the double jump. I seem to have ended up as a full Netgunner (ie. a Netrunner who also shoots people).
Also, you can reclaim your spent skill points without issue, but you can only reset your skill attributes once per play-thru.
Finally got around to starting DogTown over the weekend; really enjoying it although the enemy awareness seems to be on another level compared to the main game. Just got to the bit with the introduction of the second-famous face in the game. Looking forward to how it plays out.

CP does have those abilities but those tend to lend themselves to builds away from netrunnner builds (Sandevistan, Berserker etc). Also, you can reclaim your spent skill points without issue, but you can only reset your skill attributes once per play-thru.

First play through I went full netrunner almost by accident, this time I've gone for a power/blade build which felt very unnatural to start with no longer having to stick to the shadows or attack from distance.
There's a lot of satisfaction in slowing down time and shotgunning everyone in the face
I'm not entirely sure which augs or perks that I have that do this, but upon being seen or entering combat, I go into a Sandevistan state for a good few seconds despite not having one, since I use a Cyberdeck. Best of both worlds! Can usually get off pistol headshot one-shot kills on around 3 enemies, then cloak and cover.
I tried running an actual Sandevistan, briefly, but I didn't like the fact that I lost all my Quickhack abilities.

Synpaitc Accelerator. Slows down time when you're detected, very useful although a bit annoying when you've cleared a room and cameras keep picking you up and triggering it. I tried running an actual Sandevistan, briefly, but I didn't like the fact that I lost all my Quickhack abilities.
And yeah, not having quick hacks I found very strange so I'm glad I played the first time with them.

True, although I'm quite methodical about disabling cameras as I encounter them. One of my augs give a buff if I quickhack people via a camera or other device, so I take control of a camera with a quickhack, move to cover as that uploads, then quickhack the ste out of any enemies that the camera detects, then move from camera to camera (you can do that once you take control of just one camera, including remotely disabling any cameras that can be seen by another camera, and then finally disable the camera I first took control off.
GoG says I have played Cyberpunk 2077 for in excess of 259 hours now. But that just means the executable has run for that long as it's such a faff to load up the game that sometimes I minimise the app and mute the sound (cos there is no way to mute the application when minimised / not focussed. I mean... REALLY??). But I can't see that accounting for more than a handful of hours so it's still 250+ hours I reckon.
I'm starting to run out of things to do now, though. But I don't want this to end.
