Just started playing it at work, and I'm amazed at how many cars there are in there! It's really good - ok the driving isn't all that great, but a good game with some nice cars going around. Very impressed with it!

The controls were kack and the dialogue was truly awful, like the first game, i had some fun with it but the pros didn't outweigh the cons and i got fed up with it

I'm with Col here, abysmal game, it's all very well having the licensed cars and suits etc but it's just shabby when compared with Grand Theft Auto.

Isn't one of the guys behind the game a member of this site?

I thought it was quite poor, it was way too easy and didn't bring enough new stuff to better the first one (which I really liked).

I'm looking forward to the new game from their studio, 8 Days. See the awesome trailer here: www.wimp.com/eightdays/

Trouble is that the stories were great, trailers were really awesome and got you hyped up to play them, it was just the poor gameplay mechanics that let them down, who didn't want to live out their own Lock Stock? Driving the cars was frustrating, compounded by having to drive them through London where you often had to sit through traffic jams to advance, the timer ticking away constantly making you ever more frustrated.

The shooting segments weren't much better either, wasn't keen on the hudless environment where you waited til the characters shirt was quite red and then stood by a wall for a minute until it cleared up, it's not like he's out of breath, he's riddled with bullets! Was far too easy to misjudge just how wounded you were and get killed off forcing you to replay the whole segment, the characters also looked heavily constipated when they ran.

ouch! Looks like I'm on my own then!

I don't like the driving sections as the cars feel too heavy and sluggish, but that's real life I guess.
I also think they walk too slow and agree about the part where the poor guy is riddled with bullets, but I like the fact you can't just walk over an icon or press a button and be instantly better - if you had to bandage yourself up then that wouldn't be so bad. And you can't recover fully in this one (no idea about the first) but you can recover a bit.
And I find the HUDless screen is good too. much less cluter, and much less worry about how much ammo you have and that kind of thing, you just have to get on with it.

Not sure about the story yet, seems a bit clunky.

Also, I've had no hype for the game and a lot of friends telling me not to play the 1st one as it was so poor. Didn't even know there was a second one till Monday.

I'm playing it at work as an excuse to learn the roads of London - I have no idea where things are around here really, or hw to get from one to the other. They guys here keep saying things like "That's going to Islington and you want to be heading left here" - I find that pretty amazing.

Better i'd say

But thats like saying standing in dog sh!t is a bit better than having a bird crap on your head. Both situations are quite bad.

i did like that aspect, the real streets, even the real snow hill police station (from the outside anyway, don't know the layout inside)

i was a courier at one time round the city. at one or two points i was looking for little alleyways that don't exist in the game though

Yeah, there's the building I used to work in on Oxford street, but the littler back roads are missing still, it does have the main roads and some of the back roads.

It doesn't quite get to my new office at the studios in Camden though, which is a bit of a shame, as that's where I need to learn to help me cycling from the station

That'll be me... I will defend the first Getaway to the grave, but the second one was rushed out the door and deserves all the criticism it receives.

Are you still with London Studio? Got any secrets regarding the new 8 Days game?
