returning games.

Just found out that Game will no longer give me a refund on a PC game. i got 2 copys of "the SIMS2" for xmas and i took one back, well my brother took back the copy that he bought for me, and they told him that this can't be taken back (the guy started to waffle on about copying the CD etc etc). But vouchers can be given instead. Is this going against statitory(sp?) rights.

Anyone know where one can buy PC games in the future and take them back for a proper refund if not fully satisfied?
