Horizons shouldnt have a slope. Use a tripod with a spirit level, or put a spirit level on your hotshoe. A wonky horizon really spoils a good shot IMHO.
Joust - good shot but i'd like to make 2 observations if I may:
a)Wonky horizon
b)Rule of thirds. The horizon should either be one or two thirds of the way down the picture - not in the centre.
Dave

Funny enough I ingored both of them on purpose as compared to the other one was was straight and followed the 1/3rd rule it looked better.

You couldn't get so much of the sea in and the sun cornona if you did the 1/3rd 2/3rd rule....!

Not as anywhere happy with that one!

J

I can definately see your point here. If you could have maybe got down a bit lower, you could have got in the sea, and the sky? Not sure. Maybe shot in landscape instead of portrait, with the sun in the top left, 2/3 sky, 1/3 sea. The horizon being in the centre just jumped straight out at me and looked somehow wrong.

Photography is all subjective though, obviously - one man's bin liner is another man's wall hanging!

Dave...maybe he should have hung down the side of the ship on a rope...

Exactly - it was taken from a Cruise ship in the baltic sea!

Right. Oddly enough, most people to whom I have showed the picture ask me what it is...

Been racking my brain for a suitable subject since I didn't post in lasts month's competition. Anyway noticed the fair was in town so managed to just catch the last time this ride ran before they shut down for the night.

AS a result this was the only shot I got which was sharp, so although I'm not 100% happy with it, it's going to have to do. My interpretation of this months theme:

Shiny lights, crazy ride, diamond hard "carnies" staring at me as I took the shot.

I actually had big plans to take a bunch of photos of all the rides. Typically as soon as I arrived they shut the entire fair down. At one stage I thought I was going to have to pay them to run the ride empty but then a couple of "thrillseekers" had a go on it and saved me having to shell out!

I've been scratching my head on what to post for this month - not an easy theme to address.

diamond shaped reflection of the sun (and also me in there if you look closely) in one of my subject's eyes.

or the diamond shaped iris of our cat

Not the best picture, but meets the criteria of "shine on". Taking during the snow this year, at night through my landing window.
