Number 2 really shouldn't work. It breaks too many composition rules for my liking yet I still am very fond of it.

Excellent Rob - No.1 is my fave. Would have preferred No.2 all in focus I think

Cheers, come visit! Should be possible in some darker bits of the UK too. Sadly needs to be in your summer so you have less time to shoot/positional options

There's almost too much going on in that one. It probably looks great in its full size, but looks quite noisy in forum-compressed form.

I uploaded an optimized for facebook version.. More push more sharpening and I think Flickr is making it worse.

It's iso 6400 but 13000px wide, noise isn't a problem

I'm planning an overnighter in Yosemite in a couple of weeks time (after a week back home in Germany first), specifically to get some milky way shots Rob, you're making me want to make the most of some dark skies again over here in California!
