Stefan - that first ones bloody ace - great composition, lots of foreground interest.

My appauling efforts:

All optimised for the web, so quality lost.

Got a couple of nice shots of a sunset from 1/2 way up Mt Kilimanjaro, but they're in London and I'm in Manchester

You can't beat a sunset from above the clouds though!

Wow guys, those pics are fantastic. Just a question though, what filter/lens do you use to capture a great sunset? Am off to Rarotonga (Cook Islands) next Wednesday for two weeks in sunset heaven, so I will post some pics when I get back. The only lens I have is a Polarizer, 2x telephoto and a wide angle shot, rest is on the camera to play with I guess.

I only ever use a skylight filter - lens is usually the 'jobbing' 28 - 200 or the 20 mm wide angle (but as it's a DSLR these are effectively 42 - 300 and 30mm).

All the pics (more sunsets) on my 'latest' page were taken with either of those www.stevecarter.com/latest/latest.htm

Have fun in the Cook Islands (not that I'm jealous or anything!)

Oh, if we're sharing as well as admiring the beautiful images by Steve, here's some from a recent trip to Croatia.

Only on Fotango so the quality of the originals is much better.

View from near dinner table at Loviste. Quality is a bit off as I only shot this on a Coolpix SQ and had had a few glasses of wine by the time these beautiful colours developed. It's two images stitched together in Photoshop to form a panorama. Works nicely when printed at 20" * 8"

View of the old confrontation of sail v's power in the harbour at Sipanska Luka

Full view of the same harbour about 15- 20 minutes later

Not as good as the others here, but I bet no one used a 20,000 foot high tripod like I did!

Sunset from Kilimanjaro at about 11,000 feet

And sunrise from the top at nearly 20,000 feet (you can just see the curvature of the earth in the photo). I was so fd by the altitude and the 6 hour climb to get to this point, that I don't actually remember taking this photo

Azx - that's a lovely picture. What does it for me is the really rich colours. You can feel yourself bathing in the glow at the end of the day with a nice cold beer.
