Just picked up my Fuji X10 from the DHL depot and nothing else to pay! So ordered on Sat and delivered to the UK from Hong Kong on Tuesday. Looking at the tracker the package actually arrived in the UK just before midnight on Sunday evening. That is pretty good going.

A week in and my order still isn't with me. DHL say customs have it and I just have to wait. Bet I get a fisting on duty.

Well I've just got off the phone to DHL and they have confirmed Customs have taken the parcel for inspection and it takes as long as it takes. They suggested to monitor the tracking service but not chase them up again until 30 days had elapsed. Bit of an arse really as I bought a camera, lens and spare battery to shoot three freinds weddings. One was saturday just gone and the others are the end of this month beginning of next. Sod's law it turns up the day after the last wedding!
I've now had to supply DHL with a copy of the invoice for the goods as customs had requested it. THis will clearly not tally up with the £46 value of goods that Digital Rev put on the documentation with the parcel. I forsee much fun and games.

Well another phone call to DHL and they confirmed that customs currently are cracking down and that they have a huge backlog of electronic equipment that is awaiting clearance and it could be upto a month before it get's cleared for delivery.

Bought the camera for shooting some friends weddings but sadly looks like it won't arrive in time for any of them. Not usre I'll be using DR for anything again unless it's a purchase that I don't need for a specific reason. Saved a bunch of cash but for what, I won't have it for the events I actually bought it for.

Through the store as I believed this was more relaible than the ebay option.

It is a poop situation but I knew that going the grey import route could bite me in the ass and to be fair to DR they have so far been helpful enough. I'm just dissapointed it's panned out this way for me when 99% of people seem to have no issues. Just my luck I guess!

To top it all off I'm suffering from Man Flu and I'm just damn right miserable at the moment. I think I might have to take the MX5 out for a late night blast tonight and blow out the cob webs.

Just a heads up on these situations, the shippers are now charging full VAT and duty on FOC warranty replacements as well. We have had numerous fights in our business on this behaviour with Fedex and HMRC. Even if its FOC they will require the full as new purchase value. Theoretically as a business we get it back, in reality its a nightmare to do. Worst case you will pay VAT and Duty excesses and full Vat and Duty on an FOC replacement.

Best Course of action pick a vendor who is billing only the costs within the UK.
that's interesting to know. At least DR offer you the option of having a UK repair centre quote on a warranty repair locally and then refund you if they approve. No ned to send it outside the UK then.

Next time I'll do more research than just if they are reputable as it seems other importers are more UK centric than DR including one that holds their import stock in the UK and ship from here.

Really annoying for you then! It puts me off using them again though, as I was clearly just lucky, and that's a rarity...

Fingers crossed its sorted quickly.

Update from me.

DR have offered to send a 2nd shipment as long as I promise in writing to return the first shipment if it eventually turns up (They're going to ask DHL to return it to HK once customs releases it afaik).

Do I have my camera? No.

So I have a 2nd shipment on it's way or a refund? No.

Are Digital Rev being helpful and communicative? Sort of.

The initial offer of a refund or 2nd shipment has been retracted and I have been told that the parcel is being held at UK customs "for reasons which are all heresay at this point with no written documentation to prove anything about why the parcels are held". Not so much heresay as clearly customs requesting the all the invoice paperwork it has been held for tax reasons.

I ordered the kit nearly 3 weeks ago so I have opened a paypal dispute and will be excalating it to claim at the end of next week if I have got no further joy from Digital Rev.

It's put me off using them again not because of what has happened with the parcel itself so far, that was always a risk, but becuase of the moving goal posts comming out of the customer service department. It doesn't bode well for any issues with kit post purchase.

You live and learn! I bought it to shoot 3 friend's weddings and a trip to Spa for the 6 hours. So far 1 wedding has been and gone, the next is tomorrow and the third is a week today. I hold out soem small hope that this will all be resolved and I will have a 60D in my hands before I set off for belgium on the 19th September.

You ain't having a good time with that purchase.
I ordered a D7100 from DR on 14th of Aug and it arrived on the 20th. No issues with customs but it did got through on a Sunday evening.

Sods law states that if you did not have weddings that you needed the camera for the camera would be with you.

Hope you get it sorted.
