Photographing the moon
Discussion
I must admit, I like faffing around taking Moon photos. It doesn't require the sort of setup you need for pretty much everything else in astronomy, and it is familiar yet constantly changing. I just wish I could justify spending a few quid on a 300-400mm lens!
This is tonight's (Saturday) on a Sigma 50-200mm on an Eos 450D.

This was taken using a 40D and a Celestrian scope 400mm (£60) and handheld, not perfect but shows good results vs outlay in my opinion.

I did this one on 3rd December. Canon 300mm F2.8 plus 2x tele-converter on a 5D3; 1/160th at F9, ISO 100. I kept increasing the shutter speed until it looked right, then a bit of contrast adjustment, sharpening and a square crop.

Just a reminder to everyone that there will be a rare super moon lunar eclipse this weekend (September 27th and 28th).

Just messing with the new camera.
Canon 7D, 70-300 canon lens with stabiliser off, 1/200 and f8 with a two second delay to prevent shake. ISO 160. No remote release yet. Cropped 1:1 from the image.
Edit. think this was spot metering as well, when the focus point was off the moon the moon was glaring.
