CF and SD Cards...where to buy

Frankly I have always felt that a higher end camera should be provided with top end memory, perhaps one level down from the latest greatest ultra high speed gizmos just to be a little sensible about it.
It seems slightly surprising that Nikon, Canon etc don't sell rebadged memory under their own brand (with suitable premium for the name of course!)Craikeybaby said:
I've got a Canon badged 8MB CF card that I got with my first digital camera!
Now you mention it, yes, I seem to recall a 16Mb SD card that came with one of mine. Enough for about 3 images as I recall. An earlier Pentax purchase had 15Mb built in rather than supplying a card.
The Nikon D800/810 only accept a very limited range of CF cards (i.e. certain Sandisk and Lexar only), hence why they are so much more expensive than any other brand of CF card.
Usually use mymemory or Amazon, but not Amazon fulfilled by other sellers as I've received fakes from them before.

I've bought several Sandisk SDHC cards from Amazon with no issues.
How would you know though? If it is a fake but it works, how would you know you have a fake? (Genuine question, not trying to be 'funny').Shaoxter said:
Slow transfer speeds, crashing your device, the capacity would show up as the advertised amount but you wouldn't be able to fill it up to that amount. You would definitely know if you received a fake!
Pretty much this. Each card gets used and abused and they've all been full at one point or another and used in various cards readers on different PC's with no issues. I've benchmarked a couple of them and they are at or above where I expect them to be.TBH I have 6 Sandisk SD cards and they all look slightly different so any or all could be fake but I've got as much peace of mind as I could hope for in that I've bought them from a reputable dealer and should they fail, the RMA process should be relatively straight forward. It doesn't get back lost photos but that's why I have lots of smaller cards rather than a few large ones.
In my case I know the sandisks cards I have are genuine - the first one was accepted under a warranty claims (after providing serial numbers and a number of pictures of it) and the second came direct from sandisk themselves.
Provided you buy from Amazon themselves and not a marketplace seller I think you can pretty much assume its genuine.

Is Argos a good source for genuine Sandisk cards?
Need one in a hurry and no camera shops left in town.
I would guess they are genuine. However they are not usually a competitive price - but few if any places on the High Street are. As it happens I was looking at some "offer" deals the other day and the Argos price for a Sandisk card was 3 times the MyMemory price. However, if in a hurry you may not have an option unless Boots have something. Or Curry's/PC World/Carphone Warehouse. Maplin too though unlikely to be inexpensive. Tesco? Asda? Etc.Need one in a hurry and no camera shops left in town.
SD cards are easier to find than CF cards - wider uses.
