it's a storage device - why do you actually need a screen. if you want to see the pic use a laptop or a computer.

I don't have a laptop and am certainly not taking a PC tower to NZ!

friends got one. waste of cash IMHO. small HDD and a small screen. it's a storage device - why do you actually need a screen. if you want to see the pic use a laptop or a computer. the vosonic I have fits in your pocket. it is quite small. a lot cheaper and larger hdd space. is all that extra cash just a a small veiw screen really worth it?

You've got a point there. I suppose the advantage of having a screen is that you can actually see if the transfer has been successful by viewing your pictures, rather than just a piece of text saying that it has been successful. Can't see me ever using more than 20Gb either, thats 4821 pictues on my camera.

The screen on the P-2000 is awesome, and you really can use it to check your images, over lunch for instance if you are shooting a track day. You may find a photo could be a real stunner if you managed to get it again, only in focus this time ()

I've got the Epson but it's Horses for courses....

I wanted (in this order)...
Big capacity
quick download
screen
ability to do first cut in situ
copy files back to flash
MP3 and AVI capability
small(ish) size
price was less important

I had a vosonic XS-drive and hated it.
Epson is smaller, (but heavier), more convenient, saves having the laptop in the field (I don't want to have two copies of apps on two machines, I have a workstation at home for the real work, it would cost me 1500 for a decent spec laptop to do the same on an inferior screen.) The screen also blows me away (and everyone that's seen it).
I *thought* the vosonic would meet my needs but it didn't and I regret buying it.

If you are looking at portable storage or tools, ask yourself exactly what you want from it, what your priorities are and see what fits the bill.

Just my 2p....

I've just brought an iRiver H320. 20gig storage with USB On The Go (Just plug your memory card reader straight in.

£199.99 delivered.

It also plays mp3's, avi's etc has a 2" colour screen and is supported as an external HD in Windows so I can just drag and drop files using Windows Explorer.

My mate in the office has one but i'll let you know how I get on with it.
