Oh and you'll need a website to put them on so we can all see them

Well done for choosing the digi-slr option....took your time though...I remember you were debating this weeks ago I knew then that you'd get one.

It was only last Saturday!
Was it...blimey, apologies. Go for it. LB

Just bought a domain with heaps of storgage space!

Right, next blonde question.... What's the issue with non-uk 300D's? On Ebay there are people selling US spec (Rebel) and others that say they have UK spec cameras but they're shipping from a HK supplier. Are these looked at in the same way as cars, i.e. grey imports, therefore the warranty isn't the same?

Blimey, I didn't take this long to spend £££££'s on the car. What's wrong with me today!

Not sure about the import side of things....
But what's the domain name?

I feels like a lifetime though, I'm usual good at making decisions! I guess my aprehension is due to my very limited knowledge of the subject.

How are you getting on with yours?

BTW - I had some relatives here over Christmas who are kinda intrigued about the love of TVR's and wanted to see some of the models. So I showed them Sleepy-Fish and left them browsing. Came back to find them like this , I think they found some pics of 'models' they weren't expecting !

Oh and Fred is gorgeous!

I love the camera....took it to MPH'03 took 350 pictures and it was still showing full on the battery.

Had it about 4-5 weeks now....taken 1400 pictures (mostly of Freddie). Everyone is amazed at how quickly a picture is taken, there's virtually no delay like with the compact cameras from pressing the button to the picture being taken.

It does underexpose slightly, but that can either be adjusted in camera before taking the picture, or in photoshop afterwards. The highest quality pictures (RAW) are stunning in their detail, got the photoshop plugin to allow me to open RAW pictures in photoshop rather than a 3rd party app. and saving it as Jpeg2000.

Very, very pleased with the camera. As soon as I get more webspace, I'll upload all the MPH'03 pictures and a few new ones of Fred (Bagpuss).

Whoops about the other models on my site (2 I think - 1 on a Tuscan, the other a Griff)...must get round to removing them sometime.

Let us know where you end up getting the camera from?

"If you do get a 300D, a 75-300mm f/4-5.6 USM would do nicely for this type of shot. It's not the quickest or sharpest lens, but it offers a lot for the money"

Agreed. All these (below) were taken with a cheapish 70-300 on a Digi - just don't expect to take them in bad light!

Good luck
PS Shouldn't it now be Tusc_Girl?

It was your lovely photos that rekindled my desire for a new camera! So far I've spent several days reading everything I can get my hands on and taking advice from the PH collective. I've gone through the options of buying an old setup (Olympus OM) through a cheap SLR (Nikon F55) to now buying the latest new stuff. Tsk, typical woman!

My final shopping list looks like this :-

Canon 300D & EF 18 to 55mm (sold together) and
Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 USM

I'm trawling through websites to see if there's anywhere I can get this lot as a bundle. I already have some compact flash cards, the 1Gb bits and bobs will have to wait until next payday!

Despite the camera's from Hong Kong being so much cheaper I've decided to give them a wide birth unless someone comments otherwise. Im using that old rule 'if something looks too good to be true, it probably is". Don't suppose you know anything do you? I may post something in gen gassing, someone is bound to have an opinion.

Errr, yes it should be Tusc_Girl but I don't want to forget my roots!

Nice work Steve - long lens and autofocus - yummy! Liked the lamb best. The only bit I'm missing is the digital aspect. And the mint sauce of course. Maybe I should check the sauce code?

One thing to watch out for is Canon often don't honour Warranties from other countries, shame as they're a lot cheaper elsewhere

Very nice pics there Steve. I'm envious of your local scenery, Reading isn't quite as picturesque

It's part of my broadband packgage so I'm guessing 155mb.

Better keep the naked pictures off it then!

In 5 days they have used 130mb,still nothing compared to sleepy fish, hence the need for lots of b/width

Mmm, that's 'cos your pix are 150-200K each. If you compress them to about 75Kb they'll look exactly the same and save you bandwidth
