If only Canon could make a 17mm TS-E which could take filters I reckon I could use it for 90% of my landscapes.

Is the Samyang 24mm tilt shift Auto Focus? I'm surprised the Canon isn't tbh with it's price tag...
I'm pretty sure with the way tilt shift lenses work it is impossible to have them Auto Focus, doesnt bother me anyway i composeall my shots on a tripod with live view to get focus perfect.
and I think the 17mm ts-e can be modified to accept a 100mm filter holder albeit with a bit of vignetting at extremes of tilt or shift.
I like the look of the 17mm ts-e but it is way to wide for me and I dont think id use it as much as the 24mm.
Samyang one seems interesting, been waiting for ages to hear the price of it!

Can I totally show my ignorance and ask why you would want one of these funny looking things ?
To use the Scheimpflug principle to get optimal depth of field and keep the image in focus all over."Operating a tilt/shift lens takes some practice. Focus is done manually and requires an understanding of the Scheimpflug principle, illustrated below. Essentially, the Scheimpflug principle states that optimal focus is achieved when the lens plane, the image (sensor) plane, and the subject (focus) plane all converge at the same point, as illustrated below"
- Stolen from Guy Tal's website
Something like this will do it better than any Tilt Shift lens though, if you dont mind working with 4x5 sheet film.
which is a route I may go down, havent worked with or developed film for a long time though and nothing over medium format!.

Fantastic bragging rights when talking to people who don't know what they are .... Proper serious stuff, just like the good old really old days of bellows and the like.
There's more, but I'll save that for later ....
