..live view to get focus perfect.
Excellent tip, just been trying that out and it works a treat My regular camera doesn't have live view so I've never played with that...Feel free to add more tips anyone
IMO shift is easy , does what it says on the tin and does it well.
Tilt is a tricky old thing , theres a good website/guide on it with some printable tables for rough tilt values for height etc. Remember you have to be very very very careful with tilt minute movements of either tilt or focus make big changes.
One option is focus on the farthest subject you want sharp with no tilt, then tilt till the foreground is sharp, then refocus on the farthest subject rinse/repeat. This kind of works along side the tables above.
If you've bought then I suggest magic lantern firmare and a RRS (or similar) L plate.

A useful article here and there are links to other helpful explanations on the Northlight Images site.IMO shift is easy , does what it says on the tin and does it well.

Only posted in here once or twice and had the intention of posting more often but was really busy over the summer, then my camera was stolen but as it is being replaced by the insurance company shortly I was spurred on to look through a few pictures I had taken, a few are from when I was in Barcelona. Any comments or criticisms will be welcome, I know I have a lot to get to grips with, not least focussing on the correct point.
This was walking down the stairs of the Sagrada Familia, didnt have much time to take this

Thanks for the concise explanation Mark
Shifting the focal plane with tilt is nice, as is correcting convergents. You can also use shift for easy panoramic stitching (like my recent vertical ones) and also to shoot reflective stuff 'straight on' whilst not being in the way.
Saw my cat playing with a little bit of a stick. Then I realised the stick was moving. I got a little closer and realised this stick had a face.
Turns out it's a looper caterpillar.

Marigold.
Comments appreciated.
I kind of wonder why you went mono though as I presume the colours must have been rather striking ?
Yes the colours are quite strong in the original. Extremely vibrant in fact and desaturating didn't quite seem to work. So just playing around with some Capture One Monchrome presets and for some reason this seemed to appeal a bit. The bug seemed to work better too. I'm not totally convinced by any means so I thought I would bounce it on here to see whether it approaches anyone elses tastes in any way.
