^ Cute!

A good couple of days for birds for me. Yesterday I went to a local bird of prey display which included this beautiful Eagle Owl:

Then today I had a really noisy bird singing in one of my garden trees. Took me about 20 minutes to spot it. I only got one shot (700mm & 100% crop} before it flew but turns out it's a Garden Warbler. First one I've seen:

That eagle owl is a cracker, amazing eyes.

Pretty happy with this little waxeye from today - they're tiny little birds and never stay still for long!

I don't know what sort of bird this is but I got lucky when it landed next to me when I had the 300mm lens fitted...

Its distinguishing feature is that it has no distinguishing features. biggrin

Ha, yes, I read that too. Partly why it took so long to spot it. It makes up for it's lack of looks with a loud song unlike any other I've heard.

That's a beautiful shot, I think I might be tempted to go for a square-ish crop of just the top though.

Thanks Mike, I tried that and a couple of other variations but ended up preferring this rectangle as I wanted to include the 4th bird flying into the frame from the lower right.

These are amazing to watch. I saw one displayed a couple of weeks ago and the speed they fly at takes your breath away. Apparently they are the fastest bird in flight having been timed at over 200mph.

^ Well seen. There's not much tolerance between different species especially when competing for space or food.
