Wandering round the grounds at Castle Howard last weekend, my wife pointed out what she considered to be "a good tree for an owl".
On closer inspection....

Not sure what that last one is so took a guess after spending ages looking at different photos of fieldfares! Can someone tell me what it actually is?

Sorry to say but your brambling is actually just a male chaffinch smile

The fieldfare is a fairly light colouration female blackbird.

Nice pics, the heron is great thumbup

Sorry 14-7

But your swan is a goose.(domestic)
Your brambling is a chaffinch.
Your fieldfare is a female blackie.

Pretty sure I'm right but stand to be corrected.

However I can't take as good pics as you can.

Edit. While I was typing Japveesix got there first. thumbup

Thanks for all that. I thought at first that the thing I thought was a fieldfair was a blackbird but from the site I was using couldn't see anything near that colour. Also the thing that I have photographed and named as a brambling is definitely labled as a chaffinch on the site I was looking at although it was listed under the Finch's section.
