Possibly just focus accuracy? How are you focussing?
A mix of manual and auto - have just uploaded 2 more that look pretty sharp at f/8.

A visitor in our back garden. It was very patient with me getting in it's face.

Very nice. A lot of your 'bug' shots have dark background which bring out the subject nicely. Is that just good choice of background when shooting, or a specific lighting/editing setup?

It depends upon the subject, and I do try to position myself to get the best lighting. Different things for different people, but I do find a dark background helps to make the subject 'pop'. - I only use Nikon's software for editing, so don't play around much with the images. - I would not know where to start with 'lightroom' etc............at 67, i'm too old!

Mud pellets from mason bees. Sometimes they get lost on their way to the airbrick they're currently building in and drop their carefully scavenged mud pellets in my office. You can just make out a dusting of pollen on the bottom left one. They're about 1-2mm diameter.

You've got some amazing insects about you, envious.

My lockdown walk today was pretty fruitless. Best of a bad bunch.
