I do have an Osmia bicornis (Red Mason bee) female living in one of my external walls, but the bugger is too quick to get a decent picture of.

Set up the tripod with remote release and got a few pics, not overly happy with them, the depth of field was a bit of an issue combined with how quick she was.

Nothing like most of the images on here, more record shots than macro works of art, but a couple of interesting bugs from last weekend. The bee was particularly small and both beetles were entirely new to me (the click beetle was eventually ID'd by a curator at the NHM). The burying beetle photo has two slow worms in it as well, one alive (right) the other dead. The dead one was the reason the burying beetles were there. The mites on the beetles hitch a ride to the carcass and cause no harm to their host.

And some from this weekend. The orchid was found about 30 seconds after I'd mentioned to my family that i was getting annoyed at other local photographers posting photos of the orchids that they'd found as I'd never even seen one! hehe

bought some macro tubes, slapped them on my 30mm sigma apsc lens (tried with a longer lens, but it doesn't seem to play nice with the tubes)

it's fun, pretty hard to focus but I was expecting that, being new to macro. Maybe some day i'll graduate to a proper macro lens.
