Lovely picture Mike, would make a great postcard. Lots of them around this winter along with Fieldfares and Waxwings.
Cheers - spent a lot of time working on the bokeh which was quite frankly horrible and also ran it through Topaz denoise + sharpen... maybe you can polish a turd after all hehe

Buzzard* in the orchard at the end of our garden.

  • Looks very white underneath for a Buzzard, but don't think it's any other species though.

I think it is a light phase common buzzard right enough, although it does look quite close to a rough legged, the main identifier
is the chest, a rough legged will almost always have a fairly well defined 't-shirt' of brown, very rare to see one with a full white chest
although you never know. Most recent sighting of one was in East Yorkshire a few days ago.

The Godwit is actually a 'Bar Tailed' Mike, main differences between them are the Bar Tailed Godwit has exactly that... a barred tail, it's
bill is more upturned than the black tailed, but one of the best identifiers is the streaky back of the Bar Tailed, the Black Tail is much more plain.

Regardless though pictures are top notch. clap

To be fair Mike they are not the easiest to distinguish in winter plumage, summer plumage however... no problem.

Keep up the good work!.;)

Not the greatest photo I'm afraid, this was taken at 15x zoom on my phone as I didn't have long to get my camera.

ASBO the Robin at Warnham NR killing another blue tit.
He’s got this nickname as he’s incredibly territorial and goes got just about everything. Been at it for over two months!
He eventually drowned it.
