Why are there so few car photographs?

Two wildly contrasting weekends in a row at Castle Combe. I'd love to get into shooting individuals cars with a bit more control over location etc, no idea how to get started though.

Sometimes it's more fun to make the best of what's put in front of you. Just like this ^^^^^ Castle Combe Autumn Classic by Chris Harrison, on Flickr

For individual/private shoots, I got started just by approaching friends, local PHers or folk at car meets and shows and asking if they were up for it. Eventually I set up a Facebook page and Instagram account and started building a following on those. I put a website together a while back too, now I get enquiries from time to time, most of which don't come together but once in a while they do.
Hardest thing besides that is finding locations, you'll learn quickly what sort of environments suit your photography style, e.g. I always seem to struggle in "busy" environments like towns or in woodlands. Google Maps is really handy, if out and about and I find somewhere I like the look of I'll drop pins on Google Maps when I find somewhere I like the look of. Sometimes I'll just browse the map view and then streetview if I see somewhere that might work. It's worth going to the location with your own car and camera and taking some test shots.
Plenty folk in here will have better suggestions but hopefully that's useful and wasn't trying to teach granny how to suck eggs, so to speak!

A few from the Gold Cup this year.
Not long before this, I got a new Sigma 56mm f1.4 (APSC so ~80mm) and I like the kind of look you get from that focal length, it's quite tricky in a tight paddock though to use. Track shots on a Sigma 100-400mm with Sony a6400.

What wheels are they? Been looking at some to replace the 15inch bbs on my mk1 for a while now. Enkei RPF1's are just a bit too much.MX5. BROOKWOOD. (1 of 2) by nessiemac1, on Flickr
