Don, you made me blush with that posting The photography couse had to slip by the wayside. I am working nights at the moment, aswell as days & evening too sometimes. Actually picking a camera up these days is a rare thing. Are you still attending your course? How are you finding it?

You are going to have to tell the story behind that one!

Newbie signing in here. There are some wonderful pictures on this thread - I am so going to steal some of your ideas... .

Here's a couple I took last month in San Sebastián - I think they qualify under definition 2...

I really love candid portraits, whenever I go to an event I always end up taking a few shots of the unsuspecting..

I love the picture, how's the effect achieved as I know nothing about photography really.

I took this one at the new year celebrations on the Embankment. Sitting very still with a shutter speed of 1-sec. This is why some of the people are very blurred. Due to low light I needed F4 (Widest available aperture) Getting the main subjesct so still came down purely to luck! Although holding the camera still gives a better chance

First few are all from within about a minute of each other at Goowdood last year:

This one i like more because of the subject. Composition, and crap pointy shooty camera ratehr spoil it, as does the woman stuffing her face in the background.

I've been lurking around the photography section of PH for a while but haven't posted anything. Thinking about getting an SLR camera soon, but though I'd post an attempt at the competition. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I was trying to keep it Automotive

Where did the picture of the guy scraping racing tyres down go?? It was just here a minute ago, and I thought it was rather good!

Not doing the course, sadly. Same reasons as you - ish! I don't work every hour God sends - I just wish I was! Trying to do something about that is taking up lots of energy - too much to be doing much else. Anyway....off to Canada for the first two week holiday I'll have had in a couple of years - I'll be taking LOADS of photos...

some very interesting pics so far, good to see some novices having the courage to have a crack and delivering. if you are sat on an image and are nervous about posting it, don't be shy.

a couple of oldies from me just for fun. the first one a fluke, the second a mixture of stealth, patience and silence - think diane fossy without the gorillas.

still over a week to go. keep on shooting!
