I thought they were using them when they had colds/fly/W.H.Y as a courtesy in an attempt to stop them spreading.

That or perhaps for allergies that are only found out in the countryside?

I think you're misunderstanding what is meant by the term "CAD render" and that makes it difficult to explain to you in any great detail why there is a similarity to this image and what you associate as being computer-generated.

Essentially, the process of creating a commercial image is typically the same whether it's done through photography or 3D software. The idea with commercial automotive imagery is to blur the line between what is real and what isn't, while simultaneously making the car look as good as it possibly can. With that in mind, this image falls in line. As it happens, all elements of the image are real. In some cases, there might be 3D elements (which can be both subject and/or background). The retouching work that follows the initial stages is the same for either.

Intentionality I guess is a choice. My choice was that I had a rare, bright orange McLaren to myself for the day. I could either make it look like something that the other ten thousand budding photographers either side of me could make, or I could create something unique. Ultimately thats what keeps my mortgage paid.
