Guess where you are right now?

Pics look like they would be fine if you backed off on the H.R.Geiger effect.

Personally, I'd say there is too much 'HDR effect' / Tone Mapping / Localised Contrast - the trees at the back appear to be glowing smile - but ultimately it's all about personal preference and how you want the final shot to look smile

All this talk of HDR. Do you think this is just a tad over the top laugh

If things glow and there not supposed to.. Actually overdone HDR on man made machinery/plant/trains etc is one area I think it may just be acceptable..

It's so OTT that, actually, I really quite like it !

It's almost like a painting, rather than a buggered about with photograph.

I spent about an hour trying to shoot these posts while avoiding the docks, then gave up and got my fave shots of the night rolleyes

I'm really getting on with my 5D Mk3, my last 7 shots have featured on Flickr Explore so it seems to have been a good purchase.

Hmm. After the recent posts wondering how Flickr explore works ....

You don't suppose that Canon et al are able to 'influence' what appears by 'encouraging' the selection formula to favour new camera models do you? Or any other aspect of the image that might be gleaned from the Exif data or accompanying text?

It could well make commercial sense if they can.

Newer kit = more interesting it would seem, I had some fun with Explore back in 2010 with several in a row then nothing, then a few more, found that when I changed cameras back to my old faithful Sony R1 it stopped pics that were "in my eyes" more interesting (and going by views, comments, favs) from hitting explore, whereas my 40D at the time helped them still make an appearance now and again.

I've come to the conclusion I've been excluded from explore as I've had some corkers over the last 2 years with plenty of comments and favs, yet didn't even get a sniff of the magic donkey biggrin

I assume /p/ on that diagram is the photography board on 4chan, but it is equally applicable to the Video and Photography section of PistonHeads seeing as that was pretty much my exact reaction when I saw the quality on here frown

I'll assume you've got plenty of experience of those dolls to judge then? wink
