I think that's a little unfair, during a population boom the architects managed to deliver massively more living space, for massively more people within the same footprint. All while replacing what would be a living quality that was generations out of date even by then, for something vastly more improved.

Our latest traditionalist fashions may deem it ugly for the present but you only need to look at the latest clad monstrosities to know that fashion is transient. One thing's for certain, those 1950/60s flats won't have topsoil for foundations, centuries old drains and outside crappers!

We had the choice of moving into flats in tower blocks like this or relocating to a brand new 4 bed semi in the Garden of England..our previous neighbours moved to Ronan point..........amazing to wake up in the morning and see white (not brown) snow in your own garden

eta the "buildings" we moved from (pic attached), rather than being demolished, are now desirable residences in renamed roads.
