Lovely final image - how long did you wait between frames or are the stars from another time?Unshore

This was a nightmare to stitch up! 2 rows of 13 shots wide 3 shot deep images.

What's the reason for stiching so many shots Rob? Is it just to get an enormous image for a large print, or does it give you some other effect? (I have played about with the 'brenizer method' a few times but obviously that's not what you're doing here)Sunset over the City by robjdickinson, on Flickr
I knew I couldnt use filters for this shot so that meant bracketing. And I wanted a wider field of view but not a thin slice as I normally would get. So that meant shooting two layers. I made plenty of mistakes shooting it I think which made stitching tricky,so learn plenty in the process. Also I need more ram in the PC!
Think this is about 170degrees field of view in the end, 12000x8000 so a nice 3:2 ratio also.

I like that. I do love shots wehre you're not sure what you're going to get till it's done.binliner said:
One of the best I've seen of that technique IMO, the foreground really makes it as do the colours! 6 Squadron Typhoon FGR4 'Jedi32' by lloydh.co.uk, on Flickr

That's rather nice DD. I assume it's the Newhaven at Edinburgh rather than the one in Sussex? Is sort of suggests a postcard commercial opportunity. In fact it screams it really. IMHO.

Thanks LQ Yes it's Newhaven near Edinburgh - lovely little harbour. You are too kind though in your suggestion of commercial opportunity! Is sort of suggests a postcard commercial opportunity. In fact it screams it really. IMHO.

Thanks Mark Yours is an interesting image - there's definitely tension between the quasi-industrial concrete of the steps and the softness of the water. I do like the way the sky and the sea meet though

Quite seriously I think the shot has potential especially given that the location is, as I understand it, something of a tourist destination.
Mr. Carter will no doubt be able to offer more reliable advice than can I. I seem to remember he made some comments about postcards and what is required for successful sales a short time ago. I wonder if I can find it ...
