Do you find camera-shake at that magnification a problem?
Not a problem at all. I set the camera to Manual with the apature set to f22 to give a reasonable DOF, and the shutter speed set at either 1/250th or thereabouts to keep the image sharp. The EZ580 takes care of the amount of light needed, it's as easy as having everything on P. If the image comes out underexposed to begin with I turn down the shutter speed to 1/125th, and if that is not enough I start dialing in overexposure on the flash(Thanks for that tip, Luca)
I have to say, the more I use the EZ580 the more I realise what a wonderful bit of kit it is.

Anyway, seeing as you crashed my thread, I shall follow your example
Feel free! Great picture, love the minimal DOF yet keeping so many stamen in focus.

When you're that close zero DOF comes as standard! It was handheld so a bit lucky, but I was amazed to see - I think - what appear to be pollen grains!! I was shooting some extreme close-ups for a PH customer (See gallery link in other thread and select Funky Flowers gallery)
Thought I'd join in as I have been experimenting with my 100mm macro.
Found this little chap on one of the plants in the garden last night. I think it's some kind of Soldier Beetle but am not 100% sure. Also found out you can't use the built in falsh on the D100 with the nacro at close range hence the minimal depth of field on this one as I had to use available light.
More worryingly Mrs CVP found this in the shed! It's about 1/2 to 3/4 of the size of a golf ball at the moment.
Again not 100% sure of this but it looks like the beginning of a wasps nest to me. If so I'll give it a few days to try and get a good image (using a clamp and remote release ) and then get rid of it.

And my new weapon has just arrived... Sigma macro flash Now sitting under my desk waiting to be played with
Not a true ring flash but two flash tubes sitting at either side of a ring. Hopefully will cure the issues I have with the in built flash on the D100 and also compatible with Mrs CVP's D70 unlike Nikon's macro offering.
Never knew macro could be so much fun !
