No sign of it on Amazon yet so no idea how much.

I've got a Hero 4 Black and have been looking for a handheld gimbal.
My man maths says this would be the best option. I have been looking at upgrading from my DJI drone too.
DJI are supposedly releasing a similar style to compete with it called thr Mavic.
Looking forward to the release of the Karma

I was sure GoPro were going to be too late to the market with DJI doing pretty well.
Wow, I think they're going to kill it with this! Just the stabilisation and all the tracking abilities look like they work so well.
If they're represented properly in the video, this is going to be next level!

I really want to like it but I'm not sure it'll work. It's more expensive all in than a DJI Phantom is plus the software will be more limited.
DJI have the edge but GoPro do have some great ideas. Mounting the camera up front so it doesn't catch the blades in shot was a good idea, so is it's size.
Still think I'd go DJI if I were buying another drone though.

The slim design and portability, along with the option of popping the gimbal off and using it handheld is really appealing to me.
Lugging my DJI Phantom up to the top of a mountain in it's mammoth backpack is a bit of a pain, as well as having to carry seperate camera for off drone shooting.
This is an all in one package for what I would need. I'd have liked to have seen some things like the obstacle avoidance that DJI are using.
The fact now that I'll be able to shoot everything on the GoPro camera makes life a lot easier

The really big question is whether these things can stay in the air reliably - following the DJI Phantom users Facebook page that seems to be the big issue.
Particularly relevant if shooting over deep water...
That's bullst. For every one that crashed and goes to Facebook there are probably thousands that didn't and the crash probably was caused by user 50% times anyway. Particularly relevant if shooting over deep water...
That's from an owner of three Phantoms and one Bebop 2.
I dipped a Phantom in a lake almost all the way to the propellers BY MY FAULT, the drone AUTOMATICALLY returned home and landed, I was pouring water out of it. After two days with gimbal in rice it was working like new. Then I crashed the same drone into a tree flying backwards - again MY FAULT. Drone felt down from about 4m, it was all scratched but was still transmitting its location and I could see the camera pointing upwards so it was easy to find it. I was flying it 10 min later, again like new.
Don't believe all the negativity that you see on the internet.
Well it was astonishingly regular bullst - regular enough for me not to want to put several hundred quid where it was liable to disappear forever.
Even if it was user error, who says I won't make the same mistake? Even while saying it's bullst you admit to dunking yours in a lake (albeit you got it back - well done).

So how is it DJI's fault for users crashing their drones? The thing the you afraid most is actually what Phantoms are VERY good at, despite its many flaws which will make me buy Karma when it's released. Maybe first actually have a play with one and see how stable and safe it is instead of just relying on scaremongering on internet without first hand experience?Even if it was user error, who says I won't make the same mistake? It's really not complicated, and I'm genuinely curious about the issue, since it's a major deterrent to buying one.
There are many reports of these things unintentionally going down. You've claimed that they're bullst before admitting that, err, it's happened to you too!
So either they are (and whether that's a fundamental fault with the machine or an ongoing issue with the control of the things is largely irrelevant when you're staring at the spreading ripples across 20 metre deep water where your multi-hundred pound drone used to be).
OR it's, as you say, all bullst - presumably therefore including your own experience since you've admitted that it happened to you (albeit you managed to recover it before it disappeared completely).
And to bring the discussion back on track, assuming that it isn't mass DJI Phantom inspired 'bullst', then if the GoPro Karma has a better designed control system that means people aren't accidentally losing control the things, or doesn't have whatever flaw it is that causes these things to drop out of the sky, (or better yet is waterproof and floats, but presumably they're have mentioned it if it was) then that's a pretty major plus if (as I would be), you're planning to fly them regularly over deep water (which is why I've not bought one yet).
