Which Digital SLR under £1000

I want to upgrade my Fuji Finepix S602 Zoom

I want an SLR,Dont want to go over £1000

Whats a good deal/best choice at the mo.

I have access to free SD cards do any use these?

SD cards belong to work so would not be selling them, I do have CF at the mo so not really a prob.

I have always had Olympus SLR 35mm cameras when I did A level photography

So I think the choices are Olympus, Canon or Nikon

Have not looked at the makret at all so don't know whats Old,New or worth waiting for.

Do think the D70 is the way forward after looking at a few sites, (always promised myself a Nikon)
and I can start build up a collection of lenses for the future, do they change the bayonet often or do all nikon lenses fit. (Sorry if I sound stupid)).

How long has it been out and will it be replaced soon.
Where the best place to buy and did someone mention cashback?

Mine only issue is the D20 is 8 million and Nikon is 6.1

Will this make a huge difference to the qualitiy or does it only come into its own if you want to print full size images, Which I don't.
