The Epson P-2000 (Portable CF reader/40 gig HDD) arrived today along with a new mobile - so I treated them to a photo shoot!

The Epson is an amazing bit of kit and the screen really does have to be seen to be believed; it feels more like staring into a glossy print than an LCD display. Fantastic work from Epson there. I have even managed to get it to play the odd AVI file (I encoded Trigger Happy TV for it as seen above), and the display is that easy on the eyes that I can't see any problems with watching an entire film/DVD on there! It could be a useful tool for any train journeys you may encounter (god forbid!).

As for CF reading speeds, my Lexar 80x CF card is waiting for me to collect at the Post Office, but my current unbranded 40x 512mb card is read at a similar speed to the USB reader.

Phone (Motorola V3 RAZR) was free from Orange and the Epson was P-2000 was £350. I am hoping to have 10 more Epson units next week which will be for sale on fleaBay at £350 each. (Although whether I believe the suppliers stock or not is another question! The Epsons seem to be impossible to get hold of at the moment due to supply problems - try finding one in stock anywhere in the UK )

What was that shot at? f2.8?

Yep, F2.8 on the Tamron 28-75 lens.

What's the Motorola like to use?

Personally, I've found Nokia's to be the only software which is intuitive to use, but am getting tired of their problems which crop up almost exactly 18 months to the day after first purchase (almost as if it's programmed into them...).

I read countless reviews on the net saying the Motorola was useless, every phone shop I visited advised me to steer well clear and buy a Samsung D500 and even my dad's IT guy said they are nothing short of annoying to use and the menu system was of some sort of archaic origin. So I decided to follow my instincts and get one anyway! How the hell can you say no to something as well designed as that?! (They sell on for a very good price so I could at least try and and not lose out if it.)

When it came I really was expecting the worst, but it really is fine! Functions are quick and easy to access with only one key press required (press down for your phonebook etc). The screen is fantastic and clear, even the front colour screen is great!

Another thing mentioned in reviews was poor battery life. So far my phone has been unplugged for just over 24 hours, with a lot of playing and a couple of phone calls the battery is 2/3 full on the meter.

It doesn't have masses of features or storage space but it feels so much better than my old P900 to use! You can actually do everything with one hand unlike the Sony Ericsson which required a hoist to hold the damn thing and the patience of a saint to type an email using touch screen!

Motorola V3, consider yourself recommended!

It's an episode of "Trigger happy TV". The joke is that the old guy is taking AGES to cross the road so the guy gets off his bike to help.

But the "hilarious" thing is it's not an old guy, and as soon as he is across he runs or dances or something equally side splitting.

Trigger Happy TV is brilliant isn't it?! It's actually from 'The best of series one' DVD

There is something about well designed electronics/gadgets that I just love seeing in photos!

I must be sad!!

P.S. If anyone has a RAW file from a 8.9 megapixel or above camera then drop me an email and I will test it on the Epson p-2000 as i'm sure there are lots of 1D mkII owners wondering if it works or not! (My 20d is only 8.3 megapixel)

As I suspected, Epson have put back the P2000s again for another month! If anyone desperately needs one then Dixons.co.uk have some secretly hidden away at £350 - search for Epson, then click on 'Not in a category' and you shall find. They had 3 in stock last week and I bought one of them - as far as I can see they are the only ones available anywhere in the UK at the moment.

Still waiting to test a large RAW file if anyone has anything 8.9 megapixel or above. It works pretty quickly with my 8.3 megapixel Canon RAW files but you cannot zoom in on them only view the whole picture.

It also makes a great picture frame for your desk, just upload some of your favourite photos to a folder and start a slideslow
