April 2005 Theme Thread ....."SHINE ON..." ......
Discussion
Following on from March's theme thread...
Been thinking about options that could give some interesting pictures... and ended up turning to one of Pink Floyd's finest for inspiration. So this month, I'd like to see your interpretation of "Shine on you Crazy Diamond"
Make of it what you will... post whatever you think explains that in your mind...
As a reminder...
Get snapping.

So I'd invite Podie to choose a theme for next month and we can all get started on that....

So the idea is that people go off, produce a photograph relating to the subject, post up the shot they're most pleased with and everybody admires it.
As for "rules", I don't think there should be many other than within the rules of the forum, nothing offensive, nothing illegal, one pic per member, keep it friendly and the criticism constructive. A good image is a good image whether it's taken this week or 50 years ago, straight off the camera or pleasingly manipulated. I'm just interested in seeing the results and maybe picking up some tips.
Get snapping.

Nice pic too, albeit without any shiny bits!
Actually, I think you've missed the point. At the beginning of the thread I wrote:

Rude Girl has obviously given some thought to the subject and read the lyrics (or listened to it), rather than just taking the easy option and posting a picture of something shiny (or their car looking shiny ).

Yeah yeah. I'm just commenting on the photo as aphoto; you don't have to dive in rolling your eyes. I'm not interested in the subtelties of Pink Floyd.
Fair enough... but that's a bit like not answering the question you were asked...
Dobbo… thanks for doing that, made my life a lot easier!
We clearly have some brilliant minds and photographers on PH, so it was never going to be easy to pick one. I thought Rude Girl's idea of the mine was quite clever as it relates back to the lyrics in a strange way… as does Jeremyc's picture.
Fazz81's rooftop was spooky, as is imperialism2024's shot of the lamp in the rain. V6gto's flower is simply stunning, simpo two's picture has a real "what is it?" quality, yet intrigues you to keep looking at it… darthdicky's plasma ball looks brilliant, dobbo's shot is stunning, as are the numerous fantastic landscapes.
However, I loved 406's fountain, but the winner in my eyes is white_van_man
I loved the splash, the way the water captures the light.. And the fact that something so simple is so intriguing - I've found myself compelled by the picture and gone back to look at it many times since it was posted… it captured what I was looking for, and I reckon it could have been used in a Floyd album sleeve somewhere...
Anyway, time for white_van_man to pick another subject, and start another thread…
