Well as far a camera's go.

I picked up a Canon 350D yesterday from a well known photography chain.

Price matched it too,

£627 for Camera and 18-55mm E-FS II
£159 for a Sigma 70-300mm APO Macro
£5 for a Hoya polariser (something to experiment with)

Total £791.

Now how do I use it?

I don't know how much this matters or if I've done a good comparison test, but after seeing dcw@pr thread on ISO ratings I took these of my back wall (boring I know, but the weather is sh1t today):

All were taken on 'P' setting at 8mp jpg and cropped. Starting at ISO 100, 200, 400, 800 & 1600.

Cool. Congrats on the equipment purchase.

Looks though like you've got a sharpness problem going on there. The 350D should be able to resolve fantastic sharpness. Did you shoot handheld, by any chance?

Yep, sorry handheld it was.

I will try and post some proper pics soon.

I think you should learn about aperture and shutter speed first, and worry about ISO afterwards. The first two are much more about photography, because they control the picture. Just a tip

Sorry I am trying to learn . . .

Can I ask where it's available for £627? I'm considering one of these and if I could get Park Cameras or Jessops to price match that then it'll save me enough for some more toys!

It's gone up a little:

www.berridgemail.co.uk/products.php?productId=2076

There are a few places selling 'em at around £635.
