S series Blyton Park track day
Discussion
TVR Car Club S series Track Experience at Blyton Park (near Gainsborough/Retford, Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire border) Monday 15th Sep 2014
After I attended an event last August, I’m planning to organise an S Series event on 15th Sep 2014 using the identical format, as I felt it worked really well.
The main points of the proposed event are:
If there is sufficient interested here - I'll set up a topic on the TVRCC website forums for the official sign up.
First come first served, and I'll need the full cost payable as soon as we know that we’ve reached the minimum number - we have a commitment to pay the organiser the minimum amount. If I get interest from more than 8 people, then I’ll maintain a reserve list.
Have a look on the TVRCC East Midlands Forum at the excellent video from Kev Dunnington at the 2013 event. http://www.tvr-car-club.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.as...

After I attended an event last August, I’m planning to organise an S Series event on 15th Sep 2014 using the identical format, as I felt it worked really well.
The main points of the proposed event are:
- Venue – Blyton Park Drivers Centre – a 1.6 mile circuit laid 2011 with high grip, clean surface, wide run-off’s and no nasty Armco to argue with. Some additional track has been laid last year.
- Open for TVR Car Club members’ ONLY for exclusive use on Monday morning, 15th Sep, for a minimum of 6, maximum of 8 cars.
- Cost a very reasonable £65 per person/car including helmet hire if we can get 8 cars. Passengers may be allowed at extra cost (not extortionate).
- Gather at Blyton Park Drivers Centre at 08:00 for a safety briefing and convoy tour of the track before agreeing running order. Track time starts around 9:00 and finishes at 13:00
- Around 15 laps per car in 3x5 lap stints, one car on track at a time. This gives time for cars and drivers to have a breather in between – vital to allow brakes to cool down!
- This is definitely NOT a timed event or a race. In-car videos were allowed last time, but with any timing or speed measuring features TURNED OFF.
- Given the non-competitive format, one car on track at a time, and to keep the cost down, we will NOT have access to the on-site Medical, Fire, and Recovery facilities. Drivers will need to sign an indemnity before using the track.
- There are excellent toilet and “Clubhouse” type facilities, and hot food catering if we can confirm at least 8 people attending, so spectators more than welcome.
If there is sufficient interested here - I'll set up a topic on the TVRCC website forums for the official sign up.

There seemed to be a lot more interest last yr to make me commit to setting this up:

Come on guys let's get this on - 6 to 8 of us should be easy enough to round up? I won't be able to hold the provisional booking too long.

Well done for setting this up Max. Would dearly love to be there but seeing as it's a week day it'll mean a day off work and I've already allocated loads of those for car & bike trips this year. Even I'm not stupid enough to suugest another one to Mrs L'rs! I'm sure you'll fill all the spaces though

Does it have to ba an S?
To be honest, I'm half tempted (if I get an S) as it's not a huge amount of money and it would be nice to have the track to myself
The idea was for an S event as other broad-brush events already exist - and interest last year suggested 6 or 8 cars wouldn't be a problem ....... but at this rate, I reckon I'll be taking non-TVR's!!!To be honest, I'm half tempted (if I get an S) as it's not a huge amount of money and it would be nice to have the track to myself
The one car on track at a time was what tempted me last year to get comfortable on a track ahead of the TVRCC Cadwell track day last Sept.
To any one still undecided on this I'd say go for it!
Maybe if your car is tucked away during this dull weather you've kinda forgotten how much fun they are to drive? Well try and remember and if our track time at Spa was anything to go buy, multiply by 100
A clear open road with no lights, junctions, cars coming the other way, pulling out at junctions, you've got to try it and this has got to be about the safest way?
I had doubts about track days, especially after viewing a few mishaps on Utube but one at a time on a clear open track, plenty of run off if you do get a little "enthusiastic", what can go wrong!
