Really check the chassis espescially round the outriggers
If you get it get the "bible"
Check before you try
Good luck

whilst I don`t feel qualified to advise you on any technical details my advice would be to look at a few before u buy. At least 4 more if poss & be prepared to travel.
A few of the S3s i looked at were S2s take the Bible with you and check.
Another owner may be prepared to meet you at a viewing.
I certainly would if you were near me.

sorry mate im miles away in deepest kent
Check the chassis, espescially those outriggers nearside usually is worst ,and rear trailing arms
Check every bulb works (ill be surprised if they do)
Check the service history
Check running temp should be 90 at all times
Check oil press 50-70 psi at idle
Check for leaks oil water etc
Check condition of oil in engine (i.e does it look like its had water mixed with it)
Check the condition of those wheels they are rare so replacements could cost a bit
Check for excessive play in steering too much and the rack could be worn
Check bulkhead bearing by puling on the steering wheel any movement (it will feel like a click) will need replacement but not too dear
Check alarm certificate
Hope that helps
Happy shopping

When you say to check all the bulbs work do you mean dashboard warning lights? Should these come on when the ignition is turned as a test?
Also a question to all S owners.
is a slight door drop acceptable or should I be looking for no drop at all?
Is it possible to "adjust out" any door drop on the hinges.
Incase there are differences in the models Im talking about S3's.
Thanks.

When I was looking, I couldn't find ANY in my local area, so had to travel - eventual purchase was 2.5 hours from home. If you have any prospectives in Herts/Essex area, am happy to come along. S owner only since June, so do not claim to be expert, but I know what they should look like etc and have a comparison.
Have not seen real droopy doors, but car I nearly bought had sqeaky drivers door. The one I purchased didn't but does now, so you will probably find they all drop in time.
HTH
I have enough will power not to buy on sound (and some earplugs!)
I think my girlfriend my now be getting hooked though, hopefully.
Podie (or should it be "Poddie"?), if I dont have an S before BTaP can you take my girlfriend for a ride round the block to make her want it even more please.
(Its not difficult to set you up for these gags!)
