Clutch Cylinder part numbers
Discussion
Hi all,
I have read this before but as usual the search is down so I can't find it. I wanted to buy a master and slave cylinder for the S as there is a leak somewhere so thought I'd just replace the lot.
I wanted to check the part numbers of the Land Rover cylinders that fit. I think they are;
Slave: 591231
Master: 550732
Can someone confirm whether or not these will fit. They look right but that never means it will actually fit!
I was intending on going down my local garage and see if they could make a flexible hose to link the two as I seem to remember its not an off the shelf pipe to connect them.
Thanks in advance,
Tom
ADDED:
To summarise the rest of the thread, both part numbers above are correct and fit. The threads in the cylinders are;
Slave - 7/16" UNF
Master - 3/8" UNF
Both use a concave fitting with a double flared pipe end (looks like you've squeezed a ring donut in the copper at the end of the pipe)
Barkychoc's post on page 2 (first post) has links to a supplier for the cylinders. Personally i got the pattern ones from that supplier through ebay.

Hello Tom,
The clutch slave is the correct one.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LAND-ROVER-SERIES-3-CLUTCH-S...
Not sure about the master sorry.
Have put a flexi braided pipe on mine.Makes sense to me.
Just watch the thread sizes on both as I believe they are UNF and not metric.
Other thing to watch is the rod that fits into clutch fork plate this wears and becomes slotted almost to the point you believe it should look like it.
Can be filled with weld and remade.( Could have posted a link if the search thingy was working)
cheers Andy
Ps see you in France

I'll grab a slave cylinder and possibly a master on a punt. I was going to waterproof the master with some sikaflex as the old stuff is about as waterproof as a colander. I would prefer not to have wet feet on our little trip!
Can't wait though!
See alternative partslist : you need Girling 64676310

Important : bore must be 0,7" !!
I got mine from : PowerTrack Ltd

Tom,
Did you fit the Land Rover clutch master and if so, was it a direct replacement (except for the pipe fittings)?
Regards

Replaced both and apart from the fittings as you said they fitted fine. The bulkhead under my master wasn't in a great state though and there was no way to make a good seal without copious amounts of sealant to fill the holes. I fitted an aluminium plate under the master so hopefully my feet will stay dry!
Sorry for butting in chaps, but this is of interest, as Nick fitted a clutch slave of unknown origin to his S, which was supplied by a friend of someone at David Gerald. The pushrod had to be cut down to fit though; it isn't in constant contact with the clutch release arm though (ie there's a gap between the pushrod and arm when the clutch isn't depressed, but the pushrod moves forward to the release arm when the clutch is pressed), will this be a problem as the pushrod moves forward to engage the release arm?

The push rod is adjustable (see picture earlier in this thread)
Nick's original pushrod went walkies.....He now a slave cylinder with a new pushrod, that they had to cut down so that it fitted. However, there is a slight gap between the pushrod and release arm when the pushrod pulls back into the slave; will this cause major issues? It's cost him nigh on £80 for the slave cylinder, and we're not sure what its off (it came from one of the directors of selby TVR who is friends with David Gerald TVR, and they obtained him the part at super short notice before he put his gearbox and body back on)....
King Fisher - your slave sounds pricy given landy part work a treat and is £10
Also can someone confirm - What size fitting is the landy clutch master cylinder is it 7/16 like the slave?
Original is 3/8 I believe?? can someone confirm. Might not be going this route as Pringli is kindly sending me his old MC but I am going for a flexi pipe either way so need to get the ends right first time.
SO to summarise
Landy Slave = 7/16
Landy Master Cylinder = ??
Girling original Master Cylinder = 3/8
Length of flexi required would help also although I can measure old rigid pipe when I next get the csr out.
TIA Damon
