A touch of rust inhibitor and a lick of paint should do the trick on these. yikes

Anyone got a pair for an S1 that they don’t need anymore at reasonable cost before I embark on getting them sorted. Main body good but both tubes on both arms need replacing.

Going to have a go yourself?

Richard @ Southways has a jig to repair them if you're thinking of paying someone?

I will ask, but as you’ve probably seen my car needs a hell of a lot doing still. Respray, outriggers, windscreen, chassis blast and paint and god knows if the engine and gearbox are alright (Never seen it running). Already bought a new hood, seats and loads of replacement parts, so trying to keep what I can to the absolute minimum whilst still doing it correctly.

I do have a mig welder, so may do myself or just prep and tack and get a Proffessional welder to finish off.

What thickness are the tubes on the trailing arms, reading past posts original seems to be 2 to 2.5mm.

I Can get 3.25mm thick seamless, there’s not that many options at 40 & 50mm, cost about £45 delivered to my door do the job, any thoughts/experiences appreciated.

I'm pretty sure Chris D. went for the thicker stuff on mine for the same reason.

5mm is available at some places, but silly money for what’s required.

Callipers back together. Paint seems easy to chip, maybe after a bit of heat it will harden up. But pleased with the results, and thanks again to EDV8s.

A lot of work but very tidy plus if it's clean it is easier to put back together that's my excuse and when you put it all back together just think how good it is to know you did that. Keep up the good work

Thanks. I think i won’t bother putting the body on and just drive it around like that. Seems a shame to hide all the the hard work.

Very nice. Mines just wire brushed to death, maybe painting it may have been a better option to stop it oxidising in the future.

Your re-build is fabulous. If I can get mine anywhere near to yours I’d be a Very happy man.
