Wow - that's tough. And you're going to be paying over the odds for the next three years too. Hmmm. No amount of NCB is worth hanging onto for that - find an aged relative nearby pronto - or get yourself an older woman and insure it in her name (can't believe I just suggested that).

Have you tried 4YoungDrivers? They reckon they specialise in younger drivers, although they might not be reckoning on a TVR!

You could also try Adrian Flux who offer high performance policies (I'd phone them rather than use the online form though!).

True, but unfortunately I have no relatives near me, my Mum's family is from Maurtiaus and my Dad's is Chinese South African, and all their relative live in Surrey or there abouts. So it's got to be me.#

Just remember - when you're 35 and wanting to insure your Tuscan, T350 or whatever beauty TVR have out at the time, these companies will be drooling for your business - and you can tell them all where to go!!!!

Good luck.

Now you can see the Max muppets brigade making a little bit of sense. Maybe we shouldn't be so hard on the Max Power boys - they probably all wanted TVRs but couldn't get insurance, so they all bought 1.2 Novas, then lowered, skirted, ICEd them, and pinched TVR exhausts/welded baked bean cans on, but of course forgot to mention this to their ins co's.

Sorry Wildfire, this isn't helping is it?

But it's still a Nova and no amount od bodykitting and ICE will ever disguise the fact that all Novas should have their roofs torn off, and be used for shopping trollys.

Besides I did the whole modifying cars and not telling the insurance company. Check out my 1 litre mini in my profile, most of that got done.

My cousin is a wannabe Max Muppet (unfortunately) and he and his mates don't actually don't want a TVR they aspire to and Escort or Saxo. Starting with a Nova or Fiesta.

I'd rather spend the extra on the insurance and drive a TVR than put put a whole load of Stickback plastic, Blue Peter style mods on a pants car.

But £1500 isn't sooo bad. Better than £3800. Hopefully I may get a deposit put on an S3 today so I'll be changing my name to WildfireS3 if I do.

Good news, and £1400 isn’t to bad really, I was quoted £850 for an old D reg BMW 320i, that’s nearly what I pay for the Griff.

Ouch!

Maybe you should've told them it was a Sierra with a bodykit!

In the grand scheme of things, £1400 isn't too bad for your age and the car, and hopefully it'll be cheaper next year (fingers crossed eh?).

Your having a tough time of it m8!

Had a similar ordeal when I bought mine beginning of this year. All the companies you mentioned also refused me insurance as was not yet 25.

Ended up with Tesco myself based on:

Age 24
Named driver on Policy aged 22
Kept In Bournemouth
5 yrs NCB
Unlimited mileage
Kept on Road (although have found a garage now)
and the premium was around 800 quid.

Seems a big difference. Have you asked them how much it would be if you kept it garaged? If you rent a garage it may work out cheaper with the saving on insurance. Just a thought

Yep, IIRC from my younger days, :grabspipeandslippers: insurance goes down each year pretty much until you're 25, so hopefully decent reduction for 23!

Also, with one year's TVR experience, some brokers specialising in TVRs may be more interested, as they are all a bit nervous about insuring a 'no previous TVR experience' risk.

Looks like you will have to swallow this one for the first year, and do another fish around next year :fingerscrossed:

That's what I'm thinking. Will find out what the car's like at around 3pm today. Possibly be a TVR owner by the weekend, Tuesday at the latest.

Insurance wise I tink it's time to bend over and take one for the team, or join the Max muppet squad or worse...... become a shopping trolly driving Numpty!!!

You know it makes sense..... but remember:

rule #1: look round and be objective before you turn that key - otherwise you'll be and buy it anyway.

rule #2: get a digital camera and take pics the minute you buy it, otherwise Pies' famous message will be on you like a shot..... You know the one, don't you?

Rule #2 No what does Pies say?

My father will be mailing me pictures tomorrow morning. I'm just hopeing like never before that it's a good one. It's coming from a dealer I think, official TVR so it should be ok.

Will post as soon as I hear anything.
