The only way to set the resistance is to adjust the ECU, but that requires a specialist as the the throttle pot is not adjustable.

They must have done it for me as they fitted it, but when I questioned them on it Keith told me it was a straight swap.

The only way must be to reset the ECU to recognise a differnt resistance range to the standard Ford pot. I can't believe they went to this extent of agro, and if they did they didn't charge me for it !

Theonlt other way might be to disconnect the battery as the ECU then resets iself. Once you reconnect it, it then picks up the sensors reading and adjusts accordingly. This may also do it.

rang the bloke he said that you have to set the resistance is that right? how do you do it?? please help

On the V8 engines, the throttle pot has slotted mounting holes so you can twist the body to adjust the idle position. When replacing, you need to adjust it to give the specified voltage reading at idle. Maybe your bloke means something like this?
