OK - sounds like a plan............its just a little bit of backlash in th erack itself, nothing much but enough to notice. On the calendar for November I think

They did a good job with mine when I sent it in. Was a quick turnaround for a good price too from what I remember.

before you go to the expense of reconditioning the rack try taking out a couple of the shims.there is quite a lot of backlash adjustment possible it worked on mine.

If you do the above, make certain the rack doesn't stiffen up too much towards the end of travel either side of centre.
The rack will inevitably wear more in the centre sector of its range.

You don't want the steering locking up in a turn.

Thanks Glenrobbo I should have mentioned that. i think that sometimes the wear is in the plastic slider pre-loading thingy rather than between the metal to metal rack and pinion. I was able to completely remove over an inch of backlash without tightening the end of travel so it is worth a try as it only takes a few minutes. If it doesnt work you can always put the shims back and you are no worse off.

Thinking about it, I'm sure I have a spare rack in the garage. No idea on the condition of it though, but if you're passing I'll dig it out.
